Well, where to begin?

I should note here that, after playing BB on and off for more than 50 seasons (4 seasons break total), and after winning countless Championships, trained players from a variety of countries onto their respective U21 National Teams, and even reaching the highest division in Australia (ABBL), it has been a mix of emotions becoming a 100% Home-Grown team this season for the first time ever. Fielding an 8-player roster (because I was too impatient to wait one more season) I have had to rethink everything concerning training. I have had to think far more strategic. No more buying players to climb the ladder. No more buying players to cover an injury. No more buying players...ever again!

"Join the HGL," they said. "You will be ok," they said.

What follows is our story, starting in Season 68 in BB, but the very first season (Season 1) of the Home-Grown League (HGL).

NOTE:

I have decided to step away from the HGL in Season 2 to focus on training my players and testing rosters and strategies through internal PU games. I look forward to returning to the HGL in 2 to 3 seasons.

Additionally, and excitingly, there are many teams wishing to join the HGL in Season 2. My withdrawal will allow another team to take my place.

As a result, this thread will become a sort of diary on becoming a HG team. It may prove beneficial to someone at some point. It will, at least, allow me to think through aspects of this journey.
