Tonight, we beat Algeria 104-100: (77895)
A very close game in which the shooting ability (.482) and a good assists/turnovers ratio (29/6) made the difference.
MOTM: Shafilshuna Machemko, who scored 36 points (14-24) in 33 minutes.
As usual, Bagindawo Lenshina delighted his teammates with 13 assists.
Next opponent: Nigeria.

I forgot to mention that Algeria is hosting the tournament and therefore has home court advantage.

Sorry for the delay. I've been very busy over the last few days.
Unfortunately, we lost the last 2 matches.

The loss against Nigeria is a little frustrating: (77900)
The one against Egypt, the tournament favorite, is no surprise: (77903)
Our opponents played with a superior attitude, which proves that we are taken seriously.

MOTM vs. Nigeria: Muileki Simelaine with 30 points (13-19) and 12 rebounds in 40 minutes.
MOTM vs. Egypt: Stephen Buffery with 45 points (17-39) in 38 minutes.

This should not affect our participation in the 2nd round, but it will be more difficult to qualify for the semi-finals.

Tonight we beat Senegal 176-140! (77908)
An incredible score but it's All-Star Game week! :D

All the stats are crazy.
69% shooting accuracy.
30-31 on free throws.
47 assists.
But also 28 turnovers.
Senegal's defensive choice (full court press) had a lot to do with it.

2 MOTMs tonight:
Muileki Simelaine who scored 37 points (16-18!) and grabbed 13 rebounds in 29 minutes.
Bagindawo Lenshina who broke his own national team record with 20 assists!

We logically beat Ghana 141-106 last Monday: (77912)
MOTM: Anuiyelewa Nthite, who scored 24 points (9-16), grabbed 2 rebounds and handed out 3 assists.

We are in 3rd position, tied with two teams (Algeria and Nigeria) to start the 2nd round.
Egypt and Morocco have already secured the 1st two spots.
Algeria, Nigeria and South Africa will compete for #3 and #4 to qualify for the semi-finals.

Here's the program for the 2nd round:
Morocco
Tunisia
Algeria
Egypt
Nigeria

We lost the game to Morocco 102-119: (78533)
MOTM: Ngwazi Zonke with 33 points (11-21), 8 rebounds and 4 assists.

Al Maghrib put more into this game than South Africa.

I preferred to save the enthusiasm for the upcoming games.

Nigeria and Algeria also lost tonight. No change in the rankings.

Tunisia logically beat us 108-95, playing with a superior attitude: (78535)
MOTM: Anuiyelewa Nthite who scored 27 points (9-16), grabbed 3 rebounds and handed out 4 assists.

The poor form of our 2 usual centers cost us dearly today. One of them is back from injury and the other has just been sold. Unfortunately, our pool of inside players is far too small to compensate for this type of event. As I've already said, if motivated managers decide to train good South African inside players, there will be places to take in this team.

As the chances of beating Tunisia were slim, I decided to take it easy. The end of the competition will tell us whether this was the right choice. Nigeria and Algeria also lost. Tunisia came back on the rankings, but with less enthusiasm, and we'll be 4 teams fighting for 2 places.

We'll face Algeria next Monday.

We beat Algeria 109-96 today: (78538)
MOTM: Stephen Buffery with 28 points (13-18) and 5 assists.
We are now 3rd with a win ahead of Algeria, Nigeria and Tunisia.
A tough match awaits us next Monday against the mighty Egyptians, still unbeaten this season.
