Hi,

Season 66 started last Saturday.
Congratulations to the winners of last season's championship (Thioffy BC) and tournament (Akhenaton Guard).
Good luck for the B3 tournament!

Will they repeat their performance or are other teams determined to make their lives difficult?
What are your goals for this season?

Number of teams per country:
South Africa 6
Egypt 2
Morocco 2
Nigeria 2
Senegal 2
Ghana 1
Tunisia 1
No Algerian team in league 1 this season.

Good luck everyone. Thioffy's comeback win last season was crazy. Good luck in the B3 Thioffy.

Good luck to everyone!

I'll try, at least, to win the league this season. And, of course, to enjoy the B3!

How can the African league have a substantial budget to compete with other leagues?
I've noticed that it's difficult to have a quality squad and maintain them for a few seasons.

I don't really agree.
It's possible to remain in league 1 quite easily in recent seasons because the average level of the teams is not that high. Having local players and NT players also makes it possible to significantly increase merchandising. A well-built arena with the right ticket prices can generate a lot of money too.

I was asking that to myself some minutes ago...

I absolutely agree. An African team can't compete in B3. Maybe you will win a game or two, but the title? Impossible. Look at some of the best teams; we can't maintain these kind of players (teams with 1.300.000$ in salaries...). Neither the stadium nor having national players will allow it, it's not enough...

I have 939.000$ in salaries and negative weekly balance of -130.000€.

In season 50, I managed to reach the round of 16 in B3.
In season 41, E-5 (former South African "legend") reached the quarter-finals.
He was even #1 in the world rankings for a few weeks.
I wouldn't say it's easy but I think it's possible to compete in B3 for an African team.

I think we will need a deep knowledge of the BB's engine if we want to bring the B3 to África. Economically it's really hard; at least for me...

As you have noticed, the more the seasons increase, the more difficult it is for an African team to arrive. The problem is the salary margin. At a certain point we do not earn enough to retain our best players, otherwise the deficit is enormous and the Ticketing does not benefit us. Before we can compete I think we will have to see the problem there. And it doesn't just stop at the B3 even our national teams whether it's the U21 or the national team we struggle to survive at the high level especially against other countries. Most of our best are held by playing with two teams.

I think one of the reasons is that we don't develop enough high potential homegrown players (MVP/HOF). A local player selected for the NT brings in a lot of merchandising (between 15 and 20% of his salary). It seems that there has been a recent change for foreign players also in their NT and that the return on merchandising is now almost equivalent.
When it comes to attendance, you need to find the right prices with a well-built arena. After a league or cup title, there is a significant increase in ticket sales the following season, which can be very useful.
