I have to start this thread for one reason

Every time I play McKinley Marauders I have to laugh

Brendan Behan was an Irish playwright in the 1950's and 80's who was a notorious drunk. I only know about him because of a song by the Pogues.

The idea that this guy plays basketball is hilarious.

So hats off to you for finding someone whose name is wildly inappropriate for the game. And I'll raise a glass to Brendan Behan.

I had no idea he had the same name as someone in real life, so thank you for the fun fact! I'll definitely look him up to see how crazy the dude really was.

Tonight may have produced the weirdest box score I will ever see

There are times when I wonder why I watch games live

Coming down the stretch, coach subs out my 2 guards who are the best players on the team

From 5:02 to 1:19, they sit on the bench. 2 guys are in the game just because I want to get them minutes for training, Miraculously, they outscore the other team and draw the deficit from 9 to 3.

Down by 3, a player for Marauders picks up his 2nd flagrant foul and gets booted from the game,

At 33 seconds, we tie the game.

The next possession, my best player commits a flagrant foul and MM takes a 2 point lead,

Clock ticks down and times run out as they take a last second shot

IRL, a few timeouts would have been taken to get players back on the court. Down by 2, a coach wouldn't have let the clock just run out. None of it makes sense

If I just look at the box score, I can realize I'm making progress by just losing by 2. But none of it makes sense in RL.

And the fans will hate me for losing at home to a rival in a TV game

Just can't win

Yeah I never really understand end of game substitutions either. Like you said, any coach in real life is calling a t.o. to get his best players on the court to finish a game.
