I seem to do a lousy job of picking scrimmage games. All too often I blow out the other team and the 4th quarter is total garbage time. Even though I pick "Strictly follow depth chart", the coach will sit the starters for the 4th quarter.

Had only one guy that needed significant minutes today, so I put backups at every position except center and left his backups blank. 4th quarter comes around and he's on the bench. Fortunately, he got his minutes in today, but he doesn't always have that many to start with.

Is it better to list the same guy at all three positions on the depth chart if you want him to play 48? Is there any way we can fix the garbage time mentality?

To get a player 48 minutes in a game, I think there are 2 things that really help.

1. List that player at starter, backup, and reserve for his position.
2. Don't dress any extra players. If you only have players dressed who are starting or backing up other positions, there will be no one available to sub in for your "48 minutes" guy, even in garbage time.
