Am I correct in assuming that private league games are included in a players weekly minute count?

also: Should players take part in the all-star game this week will any minutes from the all-star game be included in their weekly minute count?

Suporter features offers no advantage in the game, just a bit more fun like the pl ;)

So only league, cup and scrimmages count towards player minutes?

I can play my top players in PL games without them suffering and will still need to schedule scrimmages for training purposes?

Yes exactly, the private league is just for fun. Your players will not get credit for the minutes they play in it.

So, yes it would still be smart to schedule a scrimage every week so you have 2 games, 1 scrimage, and 1 private league game that does not count.
