I read somewhere that the height of a player is already considered in the value of his rebounding - is that true and if so does height not play any role for any other stat or during gameplay ?

Height is considered in training, but not in the simulation of games.

Thank you - so let me get this right - I could have a team of 5'10" players and their rebounding skill is high and they will out rebound a team of 7'4" players who have a lower rebounding skill ! If that is the case I have been thinking about this game all wrong

What you said is correct. Just the final ranking of their rebounding ability is used in game simulations.

Their height effects how fast they go up in the rebounding skill and thats all.

This is correct, but you would be much better off with the 7'4'' guys if you plan on training rebounding or any other inside skill. Give a season or two of training and the tall guys have improved a lot while the shorter players haven't improved nearly as much.
