1. if my guard has good driving but poor inside shot, does this mean he is gonna miss the layups?

2. does man to man defence mean more fouls than zone?

Driving plays a bigger role for guards than IS in the case of layups

Agreed with the other two answers, but it should probably be pointed out that the Driving skill name can be misleading.
In short, "driving" doesn't mean "driving to the basket". In the game manual, this skill is described like this:
Driving: Allows the player to create his own shot without a good pass from a teammate. Better driving creates shots more often and creates better shots on average.
So, a player with a high driving skill will generally take more and higher % shots, from any position on the court. Imagine for example a player with an excellent step-back move, or with a very quick shot release.

yes. this is what alot off players, including myself in the beginning get wrong... Having a player with high driving and not both decent IS and OS is quite difficult to manage. What i mean with this is, if you have a player with high driving and low inside skill and you play an inside minded offense, you might end up with this player making alot off own shots and due to this poor inside shooting miss alot off these self made chances... Off course this counts the other way around when he has poor outside shooting and you play an outside minded attack...
