hm, after looking at the game result I don't think it is THAT amazing.

do not forget a few things:

the opponent crunched, while Sum played TIE. The diffrence between the teams must be prety big then, because not only will the opponent have more chance of grabbing rebounds and effective defend shots, Sum will also have less chance of grabbing rebounds and defending against shots. This double effect is deadly.
The opponent also had HCA.
The opponent used the good offensice AND defensive tactics.

And last but not least, the opponent HAS some prety good players as well.

There are some other factors that are hidden except for the manager of the team, but that someone MIGHT guess, and I'm sure that is also a factor that helped here.

If you just add up 1 basket for each of these benefits, you already make a diffrence of 12 points.

Seeing the facts afterwards, I'm not realy surprised sum lost. Everything worked against him, even his own choices, ...
maybe he underestimated his opponent?

yeah, But I am not only referring to the result itself ... He probably did not deserve to win ...

As I said before, I do not like the cup-system in BB ...
I do not think it should be possible that some first division teams play against a team from div II and some against teams without an owner in round 1 or 2 ...

But it is like that now, and so the cup is still one big lotery ...

Second II div. team in a row... what the h*ll... luckily this time @ home...

it's like that... some years you have an easy start, other years you play I and II div teams in the beginning

that's the cup

true, I've been kicked second round 2 seasons ago as well.

Everything has it's positives and negatives.

We all think in our own interest mostly, and view everything from our own eyes.

However the BBs have a mission to make as many people happy in this game as they can.

It is due to this randomness in the Cup-system that more teams start getting shots at the cup.

If they made it a calculated system, the strongest teams will systematically move on towards the final rounds and we would see the same teams in the final 16 each season.

Now, with some bad luck for Div I and II teams, and a lot of luck for lower division teams, the highest divisions need to play each other early, and a lot get eliminated that way. It is possible for div IV to reach the quarters. We have had it in the past.
If the luck even grows, they might even actually win a cup. It's not impossible now, while with a programmed system Div IV teams would have as much chance of winning the cup as winning euromillions...

That makes the cup more interesting to more teams. The top teams still get a shot at becomming champion after they get eliminated, lower division teams don't have such big goals after their cup run...

Seeing (lower) teams crunch in the cup, shows they are making it their top priority to try to catch it.

For the fist time for some seasons, all the D1 are always playing the cup after the first round :)

in fact it was very difficult, and in the end, the result was prety good, but still a few players will suffer from too few minutes this week, so I didn't make it...

It took me about 45 minutes to figure out how to line-up. And I didn't even have to look at positions, I just wanted everyone to get an optimal amount of minutes this week. ;þ
