hey everyone. i have enough exp to ask about my next game but someone with more exp might help with my decision.

i will play with a team outside oriented offensively and they can defend both inside and outside good enough. two very well trained guards and a high priced center looks pretty strong. my team is all about inside play, good scorers rebounders and defenders. but what i dont really have is outside defenders which is now a big problem.

i checked my oppositions games and saw that while his rebounding ratings are low, stats tell a different story. his team is rebounding a bit better than ratings. so i have a feeling that if i go 3-2 zone, i might get beaten on boards or wont have the advantage i should have to win the game. man to man is the most logical tactic but will not bring any marginal benefits. and i now started to think to go with 2-3. the question is will my rebounding numbers compensate the points i gave up by using tihs tactic? as an overview for you guys i will put the possible rating of both team for tactics.

his team will almost obviously go with run and gun and 2-3 so

my team>3-2 OD:average REB:average(low)

my team>man to man OD:mediocre(high) REB: respectable

my team>2-3 OD: inept (high) REB:strong

waiting for your suggestions.

When i am facing a guard oriented team i am always playing 3-2 (and i pay it against Gold Towers who surprised me). Get stops maybe is more important than the pure rebounding. Until now that tactic works fine for me. Anyway, 2-3 its not an option for me. man to man or 3-2.

playing 3-2 gives you weaker rebounding than 2-3 for shure, but if you get a better rebounding rating then him, it should be enough

i dont know what his rating of outside scoring, but if you'll go 2-3, you will be punished quite badly
if you know your apponents strategy, and even though he get many rebs per games in stats, you are strong enough in rebounding to play 3-2

but, of course, thats just my oppinion

i went with 3-2 and crunch time against his motion and take it easy. beat him on boards by 17 but that was not enough as i lost in overtime although his best player was out of the game in midst of third quarter. i should and could have taken man to man but it is easier to say than to do.

I dont think that man to man could help u more than 3-2. He had the better team and he won. That doesnt mean that u r tactic was wrong.

Edit:From what ive seen u r guard's D is really weak. I am sure if where playing man to man u could lose even easier

sure he has the better team, at least better suited to play against me than i can play against him. but there was a good chance after his only capable inside player was fouled out and losing has hurt because of this. man to man would help in rebounding which i felt lacked considering his foul troubles. it is of course a big unknown how my team would respond to his very capable outside scorers. i had only one good outside defender who has just come from the injury and he has average game shape so yes my outside defence sucks big time.

You couldnt get more rebounds playing man to man, for a simple reason. His guards, would miss as much as with 3-2. :)
