I trained my whole team on free throw shooting this past week and after the training update tonight, my player's DMI dropped. I know for a fact Bill Cooley was at least 44000 but now he's down to 27200 and Gilbert Braswell was over 26000 but thats dropped to 14700. Anyone know whats happening? I thought that would increase after a week of training.

DMI is strongly influenced by the player's Game Shape. They may have both been strong last week as well as this week, but slight variances in each level of game shape can cause massive fluctuations in DMI.

Get used to ignoring DMI. I like to refer to it as the Deliberately Meaningless Index.

Generally people like to refer to things by their actual names, like you just did ;)

A CT? Really?
Any two will do
Any three for me
Any four will score
Any five are live

Thanks guys, I'll keep that in mind. I was a bit concerned cause that was a big drop-off across the board. I thought all my players got worst or something.

That's really what it stands for?

Ok, if that is truly what it means, then what is the point in having that in the game?

It is.

From the rules:

DMI: The overall player index, DMI, gives a very rough indication of how good your player is. This is a good way to check that your player is getting training, but is otherwise a lot less meaningful than it first appears. Be warned!

I understand that, but to have such wild fluctuations in a value that is meaningless... again, what is the point in having it in the game? I had a guy go from 30,700 to 14,600. That's 16,100 meaningless points. If there is no way to narrow the focus of the DMI and get a more educated guess on your player's overall index, again I ask... what's the point in having it in the game?

We are supposed to be pro teams, not the YMCA youth club. I would think that my GM and coaches would have a better idea of my player's overall abilities.

It's mainly, like the rules state, to reassure teams that training is occuring.
