I just started here and was wondering how the number of fouls commited by your team is determined. In my first two league games my team has commited 38 and 32 fouls. Is there anything I can do to reduce the number of fouls?

I guess two games isn't really a sufficient sample size to draw conclusions from but I figured it was worth asking in case maybe it was some order I was giving that's causing my guys to play so rough.

When I read this I even thought it was some kind of bug, because your team is really doing a lot of fouls... But looking at the games it doesn't look like a bug.

So, the best thing I can tell you is that the Defensive skill of your players are very important to the foul numbers. Low D means more fouls, cause they don't really know other ways to stop the adversary...

So try to see if you are putting on the court players that can defend properly for tehir position (perimeter defense for guards and inside defense for your PF and center).

Well, my best outside defender is my starting sg who is respectable in outside def. and he has fouled out of both my league games as well as the scrimmage. He is averaging 6 fouls in about 28 minutes per game.

Heheh, maybe bringing him off the bench today will teach him to start moving his feet out there and lay off the fouls. Nothing like a good benching keep the troops in line

I'd be interested in seeing if anyone else has more input to give on this. I lost my game tonight based purely on fouls.. I somehow commited 39 fouls tonight even though my lineup was set primarily for defensive purposes. I never expected to give 50 free throws to anyone in one game. For the record they were only whistled 13 times at home.

Well, for what it's worth my team settled down this week and only committed 15 fouls. I was playing a bot team so that could be part of it. I'm hoping i just had some bad luck those first two games.

Still, it would be interesting to know more about what goes into having your player foul and what you can do to improve in that regard.

New teams I feel also commit more fouls as well. Or maybe players who have bad defense ratings.

Maybe a players Experience has an influence on how many fouls he commits, especially in crunch time. But that's just an idée fixe.

One of my guys did 6 fouls within 2 minutes. Now he is retired...
