I understand your pain. I really do.
Traditionally, the players in basketball are listed from the smallest player to the tallest, which gives a standard list of :
1. PG
2. SG
3. SF
4. PF
5. C
which is how the reserve and backup list is sorted.
The way the tactics display works for the floor plan is designed to help people new to basketball understand where various players are positioned on the floor, which means taller players near the basket and shorter players on the perimeter - again these positions are a rough representation of a standard ( base ) offense, used in tactical diagrams for basketball plays. They don't match the above list, but I didn't design the standards for basketball diagrams. Someone else is to blame for that.
If I were to put the starters in the standard list format, then I would have to remove the floor plan because they don't match up, conversely, putting the reserves and backups in the same order as the floor plan would be confusing to basketball fans ..
We could think about making this optional, but the standard selection really has to be the way it is.
