One the most awaited and expected changes for Season 10 is now available for testing at scrimmages (make sure you are an allstar coach in order to try it). We are speaking of the defensive matchups arrangments.

Now, we will be able to submit specific defensive roles for every offensive position. Something really interesting because you will have more freedom to organice both sides of the game. This is not only and upgrade for defensive strategies but also for offensives ones.

In the news BB-Forrest also reminded us to train multiskilled-well rounded-players, stating that this will enable an easier training enviroment. Probably this is entirely true when training "off position" skills. Also, he unveil us the possibility of new training methods if needed.

On other news, with an delightful narrative he tells that we will start seeing more often the, until now, so uncommon situation of the "and one" plays. Hope to confirm that when seeing my star SG getting in a 3pt and also a free throw in the same second.

Opinions?

Coaches are in part making this change, in hopes of making it easier to train multi-skilled players.

By this do they mean that there will be new positions for different types of training?

I'm very excited to see how the defensive roles works out, I train PG's and for a long time I have wanted to be able to run my PG against opposing SG's without switching him out of position.

What I understand is that while it might be possible to create new training regimes, the actual changes will allowed you to choose your PG to attack as PG but rather, defend as a SG(as an example). But he will recieve full training as a PG.

you are correct. We are also signaling that we are hoping this will make training multi skilled players easier, but are going to wait and see how this measure affects things before doing anything more dramatic, like making new kinds of training.

I think the defensive match-ups will be a much bigger change than most of the users are now aware of. If you want to have a balanced team defense, you need to have two simillar defenders at each position. As regards me, I have a Center with great ID and nice OD, but since he is the only one, he will be "useless" for guarding PFs and I need to get another one like him. This is another big change which affects long-term strategy and it is shame it has not been cleared at the start of the season that it will come up in the middle of it. Now we're having 4,5 weeks to rebuild our strategy once again.

And from the point of view of U21 scout it is even worse...well, it's the second weird thing on BB that did not surprised me today. I guess I am getting used to them.

this was announced some time ago... we didn't announce the super specifics of what it would be like.. in part because we weren't sure what was going to be possible, but I don't think its fair to say this wasn't announced far in advanced, in fact I can point you to users who were complaining because they thought we had announced it and weren't implementing it.

Why didnt you just wrote "training-wise, nothing changes"?

because that would have been vague in my opinion, and we wanted to point out that it made multi skilled training a bit easier, and we were signaling that this was intentionally done.

So is there new training positions coming out at some point down the road or are you just leaving that open ended as a possibility? Care to elaborate further?

I don't speak English fluently, that's why I didn't understand all the wisdom of your message. For example, my C will play at his position but defend as a PG. Will he receive PG's training?

We are the ones who wanna play, always wanna go but we never wanna stay
