Hi all,
just thought I might get your thoughts on the best NBA starting five in history. Just randomly.
Please include a PG, SG, SF, PF, C and Coach and also a quick reason for why.
Here's mine:
PG: Magic Johnson-- (view first name!) it tells it all! He was simply magic. An asset to any team, an uncanny passing ability.
SG: Oscar Robertson-- His stats show it all. Triple double season? Absolutely unreal! Best all-round player ever. Better than Kobe.
SF: I have moved Michael Jordan to SF, but here's why MJ-- He is the most famous basketball player in the history of the sport, he is known even by people who know nothing about basketball. He was superhuman and a great leader. Michael Jordan? YEP!!!
PF: Larry Bird-- Seldom will you find a guy like Big Bird nowadays. There was nothing he wouldn't do for that green singlet. There was nothing he wouldn't do for his team. The hardest worker in the history of the league.
C: Wilt Chamberlain-- 100 points in a game, most consistent player in the NBA ever. Nothing else required!
Phil Jackson Coach-- Much to say about Phil? How about: "He knows what you're thinking". BINGO!
Near misses:
Kobe-- The brain, the strength, the speed, the technique and the lessons of Phil Jackson. Almost there KB24.
John Stockton-- Smartest Point in NBA history, intelligence to the max.
Tim Duncan-- Basically a Zen master of the game, one of the most intelligent players ever. SO damn smart!
LeBron-- Sheer power, sheer speed, sheer LBJ
Kareem-- Smart, hard to defend and calm & collected. That's Kareem.
