Yes and no.
BB Stats optimizes your line up based on certain concepts based on your team alone. Your best players in individual positions are chosen, not the best choice for a specific team match-up.
When I took a look at the BB Stats thing they gave me two different line ups. One line up used a player with good core point guard stats (Handling, driving, OD) and the other used a player at point guard whom had outstanding peripheral stats (jump shot, range, rebounding) but had slightly less core level stats as a point guard. Something like this might come into a consideration when using the BB Stat tool.
Another would be a match up against an opponent. If your opponent has a team of sharp shooters it might be wise to break against the norm and play a lesser talented guy who has a higher OD rating then what is "optimized" to start. Same for a team that pounds the ball inside...
BB Stats is a tool to be used, and a good one at that. One line up predicted my average line up 100% correctly. The other had some slight differences. But it's still a tool in the tool box. It's good to listen to the suggestions, but don't marry them.
