So is everyone saving their effort to take a run at me next season? Take a look at the USA election debate. Only one day in and it is flying fast and furious.

Here is my question:

-what are your plans for scouting next season U21s and NT prospects next season? Do nothing, do it all, leave the U21s to me and you do the NT players?
-how do you feel about appointing one or two people to do the U21/NT scouting? If you are into this idea, how much control would you give up? Would you allow them to see the skills of the players?

Is the puck collector the only real candidate?

Just a few comments from your speech:

In terms of scouting, he's going to take charge of it this season and I will resume my head scouting duties in season 12.

I don't think that's exactly what I said... I said I would take over from you and that I did not think it was really the NT manager's job to do the U21 scouting. In fact, last season you scouted the draft for divisions I-III on your own, I did pretty much the rest of the scouting along with the help of some volunteers (you also contacted the 20 yr olds at some point to get an update).

As for what will happen going forward, I could see a few possibilities:

-I run it this season (with the help of some volunteers) and then you take over again in season 12 (like you mentioned in your speech)
-I run it this season (with the help of some volunteers) and whoever wins the U21 post next time continues to do so
-Someone else (or two people) from the community run the scouting, with some guidance from the U21 and NT managers

That's what my original questions were all about - to get to the heart of this. My personal thought is that we should eventually go towards the 3rd option. What form that takes and whether or not there is someone in the community willing and able to do it is up for debate.

Actually, the prefered option would be to go towards a system like the US has on their off-site forum... But I don't know if we have the BBAPI expertise in Canada to pull that off. Well... there is one guy who seems to be making BBAPI tools in Canada. What's his name again?

I agree that the third option would be best one as it would allow the NT coaches to focus on their respective teams. The major problem with giving this job to a third party is that it needs to be done flawlessly. If for some reason, this head scout failed to do a thorough job it would really cause a problem.

I agree that it would have to be someone trustworthy, but I think such people exist in Canada. The only issue is whether they would be willing to put in the effort for what is essentially a thankless job.

As for a BBAPI, that's asking a lot from a single person (I think).

I do not really know, but once the tool was in place scouting would be much easier. Would it really be more complex than the tools that oeuftete is currently developing? The problem is that oeuftete seems to be the only person in Canada developing BBAPI tools, so if he does not have the time, we are out of luck.

Alternatively we could ask the Americans if they would give us their tool. Consider it a part of free trade...

We only want the BBAPI tools... Not the other kind of tool.

You can keep TUG, having him in my private league is enough for me. ;-)

So, it seems (unless someone can prove me wrong) that the highest salaried player in Canada is being paid just under $140,000. One of these guys is Zuka Mompati. This leads me to two questions:

-Mompati will probably not play for the NT any time soon because his owner refuses to keep him in good game shape. What will you do as a manager to reach out to owners who cannot keep their players in good game shape? (this is a slight to me by the way, since I was never successful at getting Mompati in good game shape while he was on the U21)

-Given the relatively low salaries of high level Canadian players, should we really be getting excited about 19 year old all time great potential players? (I don't even know if the top players in the world, like Cardenas, have even needed ATG potential yet) Or should we be trying to find and support engaged owners who can actually train our 18 year old superstar - hall of fame players?
