I thought I'd start off the season by giving a review of one of our own: Green Flash. In their 7th year, Green Flash is expecting to make a huge splash from coast to coast. What are they bringing? One of the best IPAs in the US! In honor of our own singularity, I bring you a review of the Green Flash West Coast IPA!

I saw one of these bad boys at Total Wine on Saturday and decided that I must get it. The beer pours a nice golden amber with a fluffy white head that is slow to die down. The beer has a nice aroma of floral hops, grass, and sweet citrus. Once you take a sip, wow. It starts with honey and malt, moving on to a citrusy almost grapefruit like flavor, and closes out with a subtle but delicious hop finish that melts away without overpowering. The finish is such that you're wanting more not wondering why your mouth tastes like you licked an ashtray like too many IPAs these days. And what is even better, this beer is a potent 7.3% alcohol by volume. But unlike most high gravity choices this is not overly sweet. If you're a fan of IPAs, look no further than Green Flash, you can now find it all over the US since I'm living in DC and the beer is brewed in California. I don't even like IPAs that much but I'm a huge fan of this beer.

Up next: Four Peaks Hoof Hearted Wit (if I can find it :-p)

I wish I could claim some association with it, but I'd never even heard of this brewing company. Not a huge fan of IPA's either, but would have to give it a try if it ever becomes available around where I live.

That's pretty good. If I come across Green Flash IPA I'll be sure to pick some up. You think it's big enough where I'd be able to find it in a liquor store?

Off to add my secret ingredient to my Wit (it's bacon).

I found it in a Total Wine in DC and it's made in California, and I've seen it at a beer festival before (in Baltimore, Virginia Beach, or DC, been to a lot don't remember which) so I would guess that it'd be available at most craft beer or wine stores.
