Just got my team and I have the option of hiring a Trainer 9, but his weekly salary is $20540! Can I afford to hire somebody like that?

That is something only you can decide. To afford him, you may have to sacrifice scouting or buying trainees. The system, is designed to prevent lower level teams from outfitting their teams with the best trainers, doctors, and PR people AND pumping money into their scouting system. You have to decide based on your priorities.

Also, keep in mind that TV games will generate a MUCH larger amount of revenue then a normal game will, so you will get some more cash in a few weeks...

My take...you can't *really* afford him right now, but you won't go bankrupt. You're going to get 50k a week for 4 weeks to help you out (new team bonus), and since you're in IV, your next TV game will next you 175k. This will be enough to keep you afloat for awhile. I'd say it's safe to have him now (or if you've already bought him, don't fire him) but once that TV game is over and the money dries up for awhile, with the offseason looming, it might start hurting you.

I did the same thing but I got a Trainer 10, not a 9. Looks like it better work. I should probably sell off some of my useless players but I don't know what's useless yet.

Any positions where it looks like you got lucky with a couple reasonably good young players? Need to get some kind of training going, and until then, you could train free throws or stamina.

When does the potential hires update? I need some better choices.

I noticed the level one trainer I'm offered makes more money than the level one trainer I already have. Is the guy who makes more money better?

So, train free throws or stamina until I get a decent trainer?

All trainers of the same level are equally good, even if their wage is different. There are no "sublevels" to trainer skills.

The rules caution that "your hires will get lazy over time, so it's in your best interest to keep an eye open for fresh staff."

I'm not sure if that means a visible drop in trainer/doctor/PR skill level...or a hidden drop in trainer/doctor/PR skill level. Any feedback from experience on this?

There will be visible drops. My level 10 trainer is now a level 9 after only 5 weeks.
