If you play one way all the time, i.e. Run & Gun, your team is losing at what point in the score line does your coach change your philosophy to something else, 10pts down, 20pts down?
Say the change in philosophy is working & you close back up, will he then go back to the Run & Gun he was told to use before?

The point I am so badly trying to get to is all Teams play a certain way, the Suns are Run & Gun, the Spurs are Low Post, the Hornets are a Push the Ball team. Can this idea work in BB if you play R & G but have good inside scores would this always work, save playing Base Offense or Push the Ball which has both an inside & outside focus at the same time.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

I ihonestly dont know if the coach changes tactics and I dont think you really want your team to play one particular way for the long term. If they do, they will be easier to defend. I like to mix it up my self and it depend on who I am playing, as with my team I can play LI, R&G and Push effectively especially if the other team doesnt know what is coming. If I play a better team (or one I think is better) I will slow it down go Patient or even use a Base Offense. Hope this helps

I'm not sure I understood your point completely, but from what I got here goes:

1 - Tactics changes: your in-game coach will make adjustments to your schemes, both offensive and defensive. From what I understood, these changes are only made when timeouts are called. If I'm wrong please tell me. And I also believe only small adjustments are made. Imagine you're playing 2-3 zone defense and your opponent scores 4 three-pointers in a row. Your coach will probably make an adjustment to leave less space on the perimeter, but you don't completely switch to man-to-man or 3-2, for instance

2 - It's true that most teams have a way of running their offense, also depending on the weapons they have, but coaches always make adjustments to tackle a specific opponent. The Cavs didn't usually double team down-low, but they had to bring a second defender to try and stop Howard (last year's conf finals). Lots of teams double team when facing Yao, etc.

Regarding BB itself, my idea is to find an offense and defense that best suit my squad, but then take a look at who's coming next. If there's an eye-popping weakness/strength I make a switch (if possible). If not, I roll with what I got.

Cheers

Thanks for the information, it makes a lot of sense to me. So I guess if you have a good all round team them either Base Offense or Push the Ball would be the best way to go, unless a team is noticably weaker on the Inside or Outside & Man to Man unless they are noticably better on the Inside or Outside.
I was looking for a default Offense & I think you pointed me in the right direction, so thanks again.
