First off, if this is the wrong forum apologies. Also, I am not advertising this player, just want to identify the best way to train him.

His best position is listed as SG (even though he's a bit taller than your prototypical SG) but that is supposed to be just a guide if I remember correctly. He's the highest potential player I've drafted so I want to make sure I adjust my training to favor him if possible. I can see three ways to go SG, SF, or PF. My gut says that I should try and mold him into a SF type, but I'm not sure.

Anyone's thoughts or recommendations are appreciated.

Age: 19
Height: 6'10" / 208 cm
Potential: MVP
Game Shape: respectable
Jump Shot: respectable
Jump Range: respectable
Outside Def.: respectable
Handling: inept
Driving: pitiful
Passing: mediocre
Inside Shot: average
Inside Def.: average
Rebounding: pitiful
Shot Blocking: awful
Stamina: awful
Free Throw: respectable

Experience: atrocious

In my opinion that is a SF. A true Small Forward is now the rarest player and would give you a competitive advantage or a butt load of cash if you sell him.

Rebounding is not good but you can combat this with stronger big guys. I would suggest biting the bullet for a season and training him to Proficient or better in OD and ID so that he can play (read: train) at any position thereafter without completely hurting you.

Is there typically a "proper" place to seek this kind of advice on players?

I could see the benefit to both sides of it. 1) You get a good player, you get some good advice. 2) Right after the draft there would be a deluge of requests which would be hard to moderate.

The National Team Forum would be one option...

Somewhere there was a mentoring thread where people could sign up to be mentored, not necessarily just on training, just whatever they wanted to know. I believe it is in the USA forum but cant find it at the moment. Maybe it got deleted.

Not that this answers your question but if your prospect is good enough, chances are you will have been contacted about it.

Ummm if you asked Coco or Juice a.k.a Edju or Wozz I'm sure they would give advice or point you in the right direction. I know Coco assigned me a couple people who may or may not have been responsive.

I know you're not a fan but the off site forum is another place.

Basically if you need help, ask it in the this forum and I am 100% sure someone will give you advice or be willing to help.

Maybe we should restart the mentoring thread.

There is no cap to skills based on height. Height only slows or speeds training.

Also, good point on the swaps. I forgot that.

Thanks for the advice all. Glad to hear that my "gut" was correct that he is a SF prospect. Do you think he is a good enough prospect to switch out my existing training plans to focus on him?

I have three decent PG prospects who I started working on last season at 18 and are now at 19. I guess if I focused on OD/Passing then I could continue to work them this season.
