Can any of you kind folks take a look at my roster and give me any advice on my team. My league record is 1-3 and my team is simply not competitive.

I am trainning big men this season and have some good trainees (I think) that can be developed.

Any advice on what players I need to improve on would be great, also how much should I be spending a week on scouting would be very helpful.

The height of your players may mess up training speed. 6'9 is just not that tall. Ideally a center would be 7ft+. You only want a shorter player when you want to train guard skills. PF train shooting and passing faster because usually they are shorter. Centers, though, don't need those skills as much. I would get a good price for your short "big" men and grab a tall trainee.

If you lose games, it helps to identify your weaknesses and where you need to purchase or train better skills. If you don't feel you are being competitive based on skill level, try more specialized training or buy some old players to address your specific concerns. Eventually if you do this enough, you should become just as good. If you are farther at the bottom of your league, spend as much money as you possibly can on scouting. It will really help you nab great trainees.

I feel very similarly, as I was just promoted and have a roster full of sub-standard players compared to the rest of the league. But, smart coaching and not necessarily having lots of cash is what this game is all about right?

Unless something has changed with regards to height since I trained big men, 6'9"/206cm is just fine for a big man. Sure, the 7-footers train a smidgen more rapidly in some big man skills, but I never noticed much difference until I tried to train a 6'3" guy (complete disaster, I assure you). I've even trained as short as 6'7" without any noticeable difference in speed.

The rest of your post is fine advice, but I felt the above could use a bit of clarification.

Thanks to the both of you for your advice.

What do you think is the lowest in potential that I should accept when aquiring a big man as a trainee?. I am thinking that star should be the lowest. What do you think?

A star potential is ok if you are only going to train him for a year or two otherwise you should get a guy with better potential. One of my big men trainees is a star, btw.
