It really depends in the tactic that you want to use.

I would say the most important position is PG followed closely by SF. You had some interesting points about SGs but to be honest they are a dime a dozen. PGs still need a lot of outside d, jump shot and jump range to be effective. A PG who can only pass the ball is really not very useful in my opinion.

With a very balanced SF, you can mix up your offense and defense however you want. Plus you can play a man d and have no fear. Without a balanced SF, if you play a man d you are either opening a hole on outside or inside d.

I would have agreed that guard play was the key until recently. I still train pg/sg, BUT with the acquisition of a PF that can pass I have been very very good on the offensive end when playing my best lineup. In fact, that PF leads the league in rebounds and is second in assists at 7.2 per/game. Granted I am in a D4 league this season, but it is actually a quite competitive league with no bots and lots of solid teams, especially for this level. My offensive flow has been great and I believe I owe it all to my PF....oh and yes I switch offenses and he still gets plenty of assists regardless.

I'm not a guru, just my two cents.

I agree.

He is a guru.

Time to spend all my savings on a passing PF.

Second Team:
All-Starters
When i started playing BB i first trained a SG because i really am a big fan of shooters. After 2 season even if i managed to promote to the 2nd div i was at a disadvantage because in the early years in my country most of the teams were playing inside and i only had 1 solid player and an average substitute(because i was not really good at training back then).
Now after a couple of seasons in training all positions have to say that the order for the most important players in my opinion are SF - most valuable now, PF - balanced players will give a big advantage, SG - for the points and for those last quarters, C - i only use them for rebounding and some occasional points and blocks, PG - this is because i never had the time, not yet, to make a complete PG(with inside skills too).
This will surely change in the next couple of season seeing that almost every team that has a solid team by now is starting to train SF and PF their value will gradually go down.
But still may favorite will be a Kobe like SG.

My opinion is that the best you can do in this game is to have 5 balanced players.
PG - with good Inside Shot, Rebounding, Inside Def.
SG - with good Inside Shot, Rebounding
SF - with every single skill at a good level (even Shot Blocking)
PF - with good Passing, Handling, Jump Shot, Outside Def.
C - with good Passing, Handling, Jump Shot
Note that all of the players must have good Stamina and Free Throws.
So, in my opinion there's not a most important position but 5 key players that will play well in every tactic.
