At 50% FT, I would train FT now, and train ST in the off season. Making a team better at FT will have a direct impact on your score. And if you can score 2 to 3 more points in your games, it is worth it. Of course training ST will help also, but it is hard to know the effect.
When I first started this game, my team shot 47% FT the first season. I got so pi$$ed watching the games, I spent 4 straight weeks training FT. I know now that was a bad move, but I didn't want my team shooting 10-22 at the line and lose by 2 points. Now I just train it once a season, and the team shoots around 70% which is acceptable.
Again, it would not be bad to train ST now, but I think when your FTs are low, you can get better results from FT training.
