lets say I used a player with atrocious rebound at PF for offense
but for defense, I switched my SF with respectable rebounding to PF as defensive matchup purposes and moved the PF over to SF

the team rating at the box scores rated me as awful

does anyone know if the game engine will take into account my defensive matchup or will it use the team rating to determine the results?

Not completely sure how team ratings are generated, but the results (ie. who gets the rebound) are based on matchups

I think it would be from the match ups. (Would really need a BB to confirm this) The team ratings aren't that important. The team rating is worked out from who is playing where. Rebounding match rating is worked out:

From the Game Manual:
Rebounding: Center and power forward weighted heavily, small forward somewhat heavily, both guards medium.


The truth is that what you see in the box score, or the match report, is only a fraction of what is going on inside the game engine.
