Having progressed through to the semi finals if my division I am torn between trying to conserve enthusiasm by playing normal against a team on paper I should have the edge over or going crunch time and take no chances. The problem is if i do this it leaves me at a disadvantage for the finals. Looking at my division it is really tough as there are a number of teams that are in the top 80 for England which means they are better than a lot of the teams in higher divisions - with this in mind doea anyone know what the chances of a losing finalist being promoted and what criteria is used.

any insight would be gratefully received.

thanks in advance

Somebody can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that promoting depends on your regular season record. So your chances are the same if you lose in conference finals or actual finals. Since you were 21-1, your chances of promoting depends on if there were any 22-0 teams in your division and it also depends on how many teams in the upper division that are not already getting demoted went bot. And the only way to know those 2 things is to look at every single league. I probably would not count on promoting unless you win finals.

Regardless of the specifics of the mechanism of bot promotion, you aren't going to be promoted unless you win your league.

I looked through all the England D.I and D.II leagues and unless someone loses a relegation series to a bot, there won't be any cleanup promotions at all. Good luck!

Thanks for that -

just seems a bit unfair that there are a cluster of strong teams in one division and yet in another division the top teams are ranked over 100 places below the top three or four in my division. Oh well thats life will just go all out to win my division and see what happens!

thanks again

A higher ranking doesn't necessarily mean a better team. Your country rating has a several factors, one of which is Cup performance. A lot of good teams ditch the Cup early to concentrate on the league.

Once I scored a basket that still makes me laugh.
