First off, I do not think that a trainee has lost the vast majority of his value with a 5-week injury. I have access to more numbers on this because we've been building a transfer compare system, but that 5-week injury is a lot less of his value than you might think at first.
Second, I think that if we just did something like this directly, it would be a bit of a waste. If we're going to rethink the injury system further, then let's solve a better problem. So I'm going to pose this challenge to you and your fed:
Propose a new staff system that will both deal with injuries and make the staff system more exciting. I'm willing to put a pretty good amount of developer time into making this a real feature, as long as you come up with something good. As part of this, we should have a real plan for doctors doing more useful things. But this should all be integrated into a nice new staff system that's a good feature rather than building it piece by piece.
What do you think?
4/27: Any questions?
This is an old, ok very old thread but I have thought this for ages. That doctors should be able to be allocated to some specific task during the week. This should be a drop down menu with a list of players and a list of effects. I am sure others can improve these suggestions especially the names of the treatments.
a) assign the doctor to one player for the week
b) choose the type of treatment
1) Healing - an injured player will heal slightly faster - shouldn't be huge but even back one game earlier would help.
2) Cardio evaluation and treatment - player has no stamina drop that week.
3) Cortisone injections - older player has a 50% reduction in the effects of aging this week (Like the Phoenix staff achieve)
4) Botox - the player looks nicer, a tiny improvement to merchandising (maybe silly).
These would take effect once a week at the weekly training updates. You could have them scaled according to the level of the doctor or absolute like the current specialisations.
You could also create specific jobs for the PR guy too - right off the top of my head
1) TV appearances - increaced merchandising (small).
2) Game promotions - increaced attendance (small).
3) Membership drive - a few more season ticket holders (tiny).
4) All Star Ballot - a chosen player will recieve a lot more all-star votes.
5) Bus hire and road trip - reduced home court advantage for opponents (miniscule).
6) Press Releases - stating that player X is a cornerstone of the franchise and that the team is 100% committed to him for the long term = reduced tax when you sell that guy on the TL.
