Quick Overview on how Rankings are accomplished
22 games in a season
14 conference games
8 non-conference games

112 maximum points to award for all 22 games

1 Conf game is equal to a max of 4 points for a player that takes the #1 spot
1 Non-Conf game is equal to a max of 7 points for a player that takes the #1 spot

I use the Hollinger Game Score for every game and rank based on a normalized scale by dividing a player's HGS by 48 minutes and then multiplying the result by the players actual minutes plus 4 minutes added on top up to a maximum of 48 minutes.

Players are split into groups based on their minutes with players from Goups A, B, and C as qualified to receive points each game. There are roughly anywhere between 70-84 players ranked after each game and by seasons end the total number of players ranked tends to float close to 200.

I've broken up the season into 4 periods.

Period 1 includes Games 1 - 6 -- all conference games
Period 2 includes Games 7 - 11 -- starts with a conference game proceeded by 4 non-conference games
Period 3 includes Games 12 - 16 -- starts with 4 non-conference games proceed by 1 conference game
Period 4 includes Games 17 - 22 -- all conference games

not enough Illusion players up high as of now, that'll change

team charts indicate points accumulated per team.

%Lg is the percentage a teams total points makes up the league total which waas 960 pts for this first round of rankings.

%CF is just the percentage a teams pts make up for their conference.

notice how I have Partridge and Candia but my team is ranked low in points total? basically, think of it as team rank.

fyi, I currently show Mannu as having 6 games for MM even though his first 3 were with ECHF.

As it should be, at least for his individual stats. Would be more work to break out the Mannu stats for EC and Magic, but I wouldn't ask you to do that.

What do the Top10 and High columns represent?

Good question about the Top 10 and High.

Top 10 is how many times that player was ranked in the Top 10 for a given game. Since there are 6 games for Period One, there should be a total of no more than 60 spots.

High equates to their highest ranking.

Players were ranked by the following order:

Normalized HGS :: Hi->Lo
Regular HGS :: Hi->Lo
Minutes Group :: A->C

I'm thinking next season I'm going to show an Average Rank as well. I'm just not so sure yet.

As far as Mannu, I'm right with you on that one. It already takes plenty of time going through and doing these rankings but to actually split the stats would be atrocious (see BB Help).

I've been doing analysis on giving weight in the rankings during certain games but I am not sure yet if it would be possible. Right now, the best option is to give weight by rank of opponent after each given game but that would require a hell of a lot of work so it's not looking too good.

Alright, gonna post the next set of rankings as well as a revised file for Period 1 (rankings stayed the same).

I'll post the files after peewee practice tonight.


First off, a quick tutorial of how to read the following files:


Period 1: Games 1 - 6 (6)
---24 points maximum a player can earn; Max of 4.00 points per game can be earned
---all games are Conference games

Period 2: Games 7 - 11 (5)
---32 points maximum a player can earn, combined with Period 1, allowing for a maximum of 56 points thru first 11 games
---1 game is Conference, the other 4 are non-conference (Max of 4.00 for the Conf game, 7.00 for the Non-Conf games)

Period 3: Games 12 - 16 (5)
---Same as Period 2

Period 4: Games 17 - 22 (6)
---Same as Period 1

PLAYER RANKINGS LEGEND
SCORE - accumulated points a player was awarded over the course of the season
SPOP - Percentage of Possible points a player scored over the course of the season
MIN - accumulated minutes a player as played
MPOP - Percentage of Possible minutes a player has played over the course of the season

T10 - How many instances a player ranked in the Top 10 over the course of the season
HIGH - Highest ranking achieved, regardless of their Top 10 status
AVG - Average ranking for all qualified games (Players from Group A, B, & C are only qualified players)
QUAL - Amount of games a player met the qualifications to be ranked

On the Bubble
These players are those that achieved at least 40% of the SPOP that did not make the Top 25 rank

Fringe Busters
These players are those that achieved at least 30% of the SPOP that did get marked as "On the Bubble"


TEAM RANKINGS
QUAL - How many unique players qualified to be ranked per team over the course of the season
PTS - Total points per qualifier per team over the course of the season
%LG - Percentage of points the team scored as compared to the League Total Points
%CF - Percentage of Points the team scored as compared to the Conference Total Points

The Risers
These are players that achieved a higher step rank (i.e. Top 10 to Top 5)

The Fallers
These are players that ahieved a lower step rank (i.e. Top 5 to Top 10)

Top Five Performers
Based on which period is being presented, these are the Top 5 players per set of games that ranked in the Top 5 for a Normalized Hollinger Game Score. The original Hollinger Game Score is included as well as who their opponent was for that matchup.

A normalized Hollinger Game Score was achieved by dividing the HGS by the total minutes player then multiplying their score HGS/Minute by Minutes Played after adding an extra 4 minutes to the players Minutes but allowing no more than 48 minutes total. For example, a player that played 43 minutes would see a normalized score up to 47 minutes while a player with 44 minutes would see a normalized score up to 48 minutes. This was done so as to try a set a baseline as well as to prevent those players that play in overtime from abusing the system by having an overinflated HGS.
