Hallo allemaal,

In Nederland is het idee opgerezen om een BBQ te organiseren voor BuzzerBeater actievelingen. Het lijkt erop dat de locatie in de buurt van Leiden gaat zijn. Aangezien dit zo'n 2 uur rijden is vanaf het noordwesten van België (ik moet ook zo'n 2uur rijden vanaf het oosten van NL), leek het me leuk om hier ook de interesse voor zoiets te polsen.

We schieten met zijn alleen een balletje en eten een happie. Vanaf post 10 hier barsten de ideeen een beetje leuk, en het lijkt me leuk als sommigen van jullie ook zin hebben om langs te komen. Waarschijnlijk gaat het event plaatsvinden op een zaterdag ergens eind augustus, begin september.

lijkt me een leuk initiatief, alleen ietsje te ver weg naar mijn goesting.

Alles wat ongeveer ten zuiden van de as Rotterdam / Tilburg / Eindhoven ligt, zit zowat binnen bereik, maar verder begint toch al een verre rit te worden.

Met mijn broer maak ik 1 of 2 keer per jaar een uitstap naar Hazerswoude om te snoeken, en dan overnachten we daar zodat we een week-end hebben, omdat het te ver is voor een dag-uitstap.
Leiden ligt dan nog net wat verder door, ik schat dat het ongeveer een 3 uur zou zijn om er te komen. Dus dat zou 6 uur onderweg zijn. pff. Toch net iets teveel van het goede.

Ik wacht wel tot je nog eens een bijeenkomst hebt die onder bovengenoemde as ligt.

Maar misschien zijn er nog meer dynamische Belgen die het wel zien zitten, die moeten die kans natuurlijk grijpen!

leuk maar dat zal niet mogelijk zijn. Na de Belgische en de franse IRL dat zal een beetje te veel zijn.

Yes for the French talking community it will be even harder as not only the distance increases for most, compared to Flemish users, I also doubt the people comming to Leiden will be talking much else then Dutch over there.

I'm positive some will try to talk some English, especially the ones near you trying a conversation with you, but overall it will be Dutch and it might take away much of the fun this way...
Still it's possible, so motivated people might get over there anyway.

Not entirely true; actually I put my BB settings in english. And I know some of us work or study internationally. I easily talk in Dutch as well as in e.g. English..So no languare barriers here at all..

And you'd be suprised how many Dutch from Amsterdam/The Hague/Rotterdam go out in Antwerpen during weekends..:D

I saw the pictures of Belgian IRL and it was interesting to see the people behind their aliases..:D

I'm not saying the people who'll come will have dificulties with English. I just predict that when most will be Dutch people, they'll tend to talk Dutch among each other, and the French talking people from belgium might have trouble keeping up with the conversations.

I notice this everywhere, even at work, when a majority speaks 1 language and 1 or a few speak an other, the most stuff is said in the language of the majority, while the few have some separate smaller conversations in a language everyone undertands. On it's own it's no problem, but the minority misses out on a lot that way.

this (small) loss of quality should NOT hold back motivated people though. I just am not sure many will be motivated enough...

And yes Antwerpen is full of Dutch people in the week-ends. But how many people do you see in DenHaag, Amsterdam ?
Rotterdam there might be some, as it's not too far away, but even then I doubt there will be many.
I myself regularly visits the area close to Rotterdam, just south of it, for fishing. that's why I know everything higher up is just a little too far me to make the trip, I don't like driving, which probably has a big part in that decision.
