I think it would be cool if a team could make themselves their own unique offense and plays.

And how do you propose we are able to do that? There is an infinite number of possible plays. Would also be impossible to defend properly as you have no idea what the play is. Also, each type of play would have to be specifically coded in to the game engine. It just isn't possible to do this.

Well you have to guess what defence to play now, if the team you are playing changes up their offense. And it wouldn't be that hard to defend a home made offense. Just play m2m. I just thought that it would be cool to make your own plays considering all pro Basketball teams do.

Maybe it could be something like this. You can define where to pass the ball during offence (lets say PF and SF), then you have to choose if they have to score and what distance (lets say close inside shot). Not used players like C, PG, SG, should have to collect rebounds, be at disposal for second pass or to score...

Im not sure how basketball tactics works usually, but I dont see it as impossible to do.

Please do not go to "force this player to shoot" suggestion again. It has already been said that the game engine is already looking for the best matchup to score. One player taking 70-80 shots is not really basketball, it's a one man show. Now with that we need double team options and that creates even more hassle. The game engine is fine. If only some of your players can score, then perhaps you need better players.

The sliders could be the following:

Offensive Game Pace
1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10

Offensive Movement
1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10

Setting Picks
1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10

Isolations
1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10

Attack the basket
1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10

Shoot from outside
1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10

Ball movement
1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10

Primary Ball Handler
PG-SG-SF-PF-C

It would be customized without being too fancy...

Or they could institute a few more offensive sets:
Triangle (Phil Jackson)
Utah Jazz (Stockton-Malone-Hornacek Pick and Roll offense)
Isolation offense - focus on SF isolations like what Kobe and Lebron do.

I am not sure this would work - I like the "simple" tactics right now, although I would like to assign some special tasks like go-to guy or hack a xy opponent player :D
