From FAQ (144856.27):

The max enthusiasm it is possible to have going into a game is 12. It is possible to have a higher enthusiasm than 12 after a completed game but by the time your next game starts to will have dropped.

Thanks.

Another question...Does scrimmage affect my enthusiasm level or does it changed based on days that have past?

Scrimmages have no effect on enthusiasm level. Have a look at the enthusiasm section in the FAQ.

The FAQ isn't very clear. I understand that you cannot set the enthusiasm level for scrimmages, my understanding from the FAQ is that for scrimmages enthusiasm is set to normal. I am wondering because i played a game with TIE and my enthusiasm went to 7. My very next league match my enthusiasm drop to 6. I am just trying to understand how/why/when enthusiasm will go to 5

From the Game Manual:

Enthusiasm

You can decide how hard you want you team to try on any given day (except in a scrimmage, where your team is just going to try as hard as they normally do because the coach is watching). Your team has a baseline level of enthusiasm that they bring to the game, and the more enthusiastic your team is, the harder they will be able to play. You can also tell your team to try harder in an important game (Crunch Time), although they'll need some time to recover over the next week or two. Alternatively, you can Take it Easy in a game so that your team will be able to play harder in the future. In addition, your team's enthusiasm tends back towards the default value of 5 over time. The further away enthusiasm is from 5, the more quickly it will tend back towards 5. Enthusiasm will always reach 5 during the offseason.

And from the FAQ/Guide:

For each game (except scrimmages and private leagues which are set to normal by default) you may select an effort level in the lineup page. At the start of the season your enthusiasm will be at 5 and it will always tend back towards 5 throughout the year. The higher your enthusiasm level is the better your players will play. There are three different options that can be used in regards to your team’s enthusiasm. Playing take it easy (TIE) will conserve your players’ energy and have your players play at a lower level of play. The advantage of using TIE is that each time you use it your enthusiasm will increase roughly 33%. For example, if you’re already at 5 enthusiasm and you TIE the next game your enthusiasm will be at 6.65 which will be rounded up to 7. The second enthusiasm option you have is to play normal which means your team will give an average effort. You will not gain or lose any enthusiasm by using this tactic. Finally, playing crunch time (CT) means that your players will play their heart out and do everything they can to win. It comes at a steep price though as your enthusiasm will be cut in half for your next game. It’s only recommended that teams use a crunch time when they are in desperate need for a win. Using a CT all the time will drain your team’s enthusiasm and that will cause them to play poorly even if you continue to CT every game. Don’t forget that throughout the season enthusiasm will always tend back towards 5 and the further it is away from 5 the faster it moves. Lastly, the general belief about enthusiasm is that you can never go into a game with an enthusiasm over 12. It is possible to have a higher enthusiasm than 12 after a completed game but by the time your next game starts to will have dropped.

-*-*-*- FAQ -*-*-*-

How does enthusiasm work?
Each game (except scrimmages and private leagues which are set to normal by default) you may select an effort level in the lineup page. Next to this there will be a number telling you your enthusiasm level. The higher the enthusiasm level the better your players will play. Playing TIE will mean that your players won’t play as well, but your enthusiasm level will increase by 1/3. Playing Normal will mean that your enthusiasm level will not be affected. Playing CT will mean that your players will play better, but enthusiasm level will be cut in half. However, for all levels of enthusiasm, it will automatically tend back to 5, and the further away from 5 the quicker it jumps back. The enthusiasm is updated at the daily update each day and after each match. The max enthusiasm it is possible to have going into a game is 12.

It is a generally accepted rule that playing TIE with an enthusiasm level of 8 is the same as playing Normal with an enthusiasm level of 5. This is debatable and there are many managers who do not agree with this statement.

Still didn't answer my question. I am very capable of reading the FAQ and i have read this section many times. I am trying to understand how these statements,"your team's enthusiasm tends back towards the default value of 5 over time" and "The further away enthusiasm is from 5, the more quickly it will tend back towards 5. Enthusiasm will always reach 5 during the offseason.", are applied. "More quickly" and "over time" are general phrases, does it increase/decrease after the update everyday, say it would take 1(days) update for enthusiasm to drop from 10 to 8 but it takes 3 updates(days) for it to drop from 6 to 5, or is it after every game so it could decrease two or three times a week depending on if you have a cup game or scrimmage. I am trying to determine the minimum number games of playing TIE it will take for my team to reach level 12.

Enthusiasm is updated after every game, and at the daily update each day.
So 13 enthusiasm might drop down to 11 enthusiasm after 1 day. But 7 enthusiasm might take 3 days to drop to 6. And then another week to drop to 5.

Enthusiasm will be updated right after a game depending on the effort put in to the game.
Enthusiasm will be updated at the daily update to implement the daily increase or decrease depending on what your enthusiasm is.

If you are in the cup, I would guess that 5 games of TIE in a row will get you to about 12 enthusiasm.
If you are not in the cup I do not think you can get to enthusiasm 12 on game day, but you could get to enthusiasm 10. This would take about 6 TIE games in a row I think.
