Big 8 MVP:
Jordi Hospital (Pheonix 5)
While i normally don't like giving the MVP to players in blowouts it was pretty hard to go past Jordi in Phoenix's 74 point annihilation of the Berwick Beers. Jordi put up 50 points off 19-27 FG and 6-8 3pters and while it was only against a 4k player, its hard to pass up.
Runner Ups:
Jackson Goodall (Lewisham Wombats)
The bald headed kid from wombat gully out played his more experienced teammates on one of the leagues best defenders. He finished up with 39 points and 9 rebounds in 36 minutes, knocking down 7 3pters a long the way.
Fredrick Davidson (The Tasmanian Eagles)
From a young gun to an older geezer, old Fred put up a vintage performance in the Eagles win over the Canberra Crushers putting up 32 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds while playing out of position at PG.
Great 8 MVP:
Nicola Bettella (Doncaster Flames)
Bettella came up clutch with 2 big 3 point bombs in the final minute, including the eventual game winner in the 1 point victory over the Billy Hoyle Boys. He finished with 28 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks.
Runners Ups:
Archer Deckert (Lara Giants)
Archer annihilated the competition in the Giants 15 point win over the Meateors. Neither Lyon or Karpenko could do a thing to slow him down on the night and Deckert finished with a near triple double recording 28 points, 11 asssists, 7 rebounds and 2 steals
Esteban Reyes (Snuffies)
The Haggards PG Anthony Cima has seen some time in the awards this season but he was firmly put in his place by esteban tonight. Reyes looked like he was playing against children out there, finishing with 24 points, 10 assists, 8 rebounds, 3 steals and a block in 31 minutes of play while limiting Cima to 9-26 shooting including 1-9 from the field.
Rising Star:
Third - Doug Dearn (Beers, Age: 21)
A solid performance by Dearn, as he put up 20 points, 4 boards and 4 assists. However, he couldn't prevent the Beers being blown out by Phoenix.
Second - Rikkio Eguchi (Eagles, Age 20)
The Japanese U21 player gets his first rising star mention of the year, thanks to a 17 point 5 rebound performance as the Eagles edged out the Crushers.
First - Jackson Goodall (Wombats, Age 21)
Goodall put up one of the best performances of a rising star this season, with a 39 point 9 rebound performance, while shutting down NT player Chowdhary, as the Wombats beat the Jets.
