Big 8 MVP:
Ådne Grindheim (Phoenix 5)
The big Norwegian may have been on a losing Phoenix team who went down to the might of Black Label Society but it sure wasnt Grindheim's fault. He was a lone ranger for the 5 with one of the performances of the year with his 50 points (off 23-30 shooting), 20 rebounds (including 11 offensive) and 5 blocks. I think 4 Phoenix 5 players have got this award so far this season, but with 11 wins and 9 losses it seems only 1 of them ever stands up at a time.
Runner Ups:
Fredrick Davidson (The Tasmanian Eagles)
Old man Fred proved the rival battle of The Tasmanian Eagles v Lewisham Wombats, he finished up with 38 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists clearly out playing the Grigg / Gafa combo which was up against him.
Jonas Poppenbüttel (Black Label Society)
The pop top shop de dop is back after a few down games he put up a solid performance this round in the Black Labels win. While he didn't put up a massive stand out performance he did how ever finish up with 25 points off an efficient 11-15 shooting, 6 rebounds and 7 assists with 0 turnovers in a very productive all round game.
Great 8 MVP:
Matias Gaetano (Coolcats)
Gaetano stepped up to help ease some of the offensive burden away from Sui Haili who struggled a bit with his shot tonight. Gaetano controlled the offense and ran the point very effectively. He finished with 27 points on 10-18 shooting including 5-10 from long distance and added 7 assists and 6 rebounds in the 19 point win.
Runner Up:
Werner Efinger (Pancakes)
The Pancakes little big man had another top game tonight, leading his team to a 9 point victory over the Snuffies. He threw in 27 points including 3-5 from deep and added 15 rebounds while limiting his opponents at PF on the defensive end.
Barrett Meads (Lara Giants)
It was a good all around team effort for the Giants in their tight 4 point against the Billy Boyle Boys but Barrett Meads was just a step above the rest with a 22 point, 13 rebound, 3 assist, 3 block performance. It was on the defensive end that he really hustled though, keeping his opponent to a woeful 7-29 shooting on the night.
Rising Star:
Third - Roy Warden (Lara)
Warden picked up a double double, with 12 points and 12 boards, along with 3 blocks, as the Giants edged a win over BHB.
Second - Nhan Bui (CC)
Bui outshone the Nguyens in the Crushers heavy loss against the Jets. Bui scored 23 points, and picked up 5 rebounds and 4 assists, in a solid all round performance.
First - Jackson Goodall (WOM)
Goodall picks up another rising star of the round award, and tightens up the race for the season title. Goodall scored 27 points, along with 4 rebounds, but couldn't get the Wombats over the line against the Eagles.
