like just in theory would a pg that has

js atr jr atr
dr atr
is atr

but has good
hd ps ft id od rb bl etc etc

would he attempt in game to be more of the pass first type of pg?
and not attempt to score much since he is horrible at it?

just wondering how the game engine seems to come up with the player tendencies, looking at game logs of different players it seems they play vastly different styles with similar stats

or does the ge have some "hidden" extra things that dictate player tendencies

i realize that the type of style u play would dictate some of this
but say you used patient on offense
since it looks for the best possible shot, it should almost never use said pg since he would most likely have the worst chance of scoring on the floor

i have been told, by a respectable manager before, even though this may not be 100% correct, but its something at least.

i asked if i play a shooting guard (or simply, an amazing shooter) at the PF/C position, would the Game engine take into consider this skill and use significantly.

The answer i got was no.

however im not sure how a player will react with a certain skill set in the position they are best fit to play. should be interesting to see what other say.

From my limited experience I have noticed that when my PF has decent JS and above, they seem to shoot more jump shots. My PF with really bad JS not so much. Although the defense I am facing and the tactics I use surely are factors as well. Again, this is about 1 1/2 seasons of experience. I have noticed an increase amount of JS's by my PFs in the playoffs, but I suspect that is because of the quaility ID of my opponents.

At the end of the day there may be too many factors to sort through to get a real answer.

what your describing is expected, as its recommended to train JS on a power forward, and they do take shots.

However, in my example, it would be more like, a Power forward having an amazing JR and JS, and abusing it by taking a 3 point shot.

however, from your experience, it does seem like the Game engine takes into account the players skill set on a less dramatic level than i described, so it could work.

i think such a player get the same shot created, but while he as an inside player don't take the three pointer he will do them as a shooter and maybe avoid some of the tougher inside shot the big guy could convert.

I don't expect the ge, to be that smart that he is hanging around on the three point line everytime, where his strength are but the ability to look for the best shot of the GE is quite good.

i have been told that the GE takes into account the matchup... my center only has respectable JS and JR but if i play run & gun and the opposite center has atrocious outside defense. thats a better matchup than if i have a guy that has Tremendous Js and JR but is going up against someone with proficent or prominent OD.

I've had games where my center shot better from 3 than one of my guards that is alot better just because he had a better matchup.

yeah the ability to shoot depends on the defense, against a weak defender you get much "easier" looks.

But putting a Guard on C, won't let him stay at the perimeter during the attack to fool the 2.21 guy with atrocious OD even when he would take more jumpers then a "normal" C who didn't shot that well.

indeed... but if you're playing run and gun your guard would be out at the perimeter more because it would be a big advantage. at least thats what i understand from what i have been told. I will say i dont have a huge amount of data to actually back this up. It would be interesting to find someone with an awesome outside center and see if he has any data of this sort.

From what I've seen around different leagues and different levels of PGs, it doesn't matter if the guy can't shoot he'll still take a ridiculous amount of shots and shoot <30%. Don't think its possible to create a solely playmaking PG like Rondo in this game.
