I'm a new owner. Just got my team. Read the rules. Looked over my roster. Set my lineup and my bench. Now I have some cash. Should I spend money on anything? Wait for awhile? What to spend it on?

I'd probably look at improving your trainer a little and expanding your arena.

Some people like to play the transfer list like a stock market but i prefer seeing my players grow and using them so i usually spend my money on increasing my arena, which works out better in the long term (more people coming in to watch your home games = more weekly money for you).

Keep in mind that you're a new team and will have to spend a few weeks gaining a reputation before your arena starts to really fill though.

You mention improving your trainer. How high should a new team go? Should I wait and try to buy a 10 right off the bat or is that too expensive and I should be happy with around a 5? Also, should I hire a better PR Manager or is that only important once you have a decent fan base? Right now I haven't spent any money and don't want to make mistakes early on so am looking for advice from the few people who have played for a little while. What can a new team honestly afford?

I wouldn't go for a level 10 right off the bat. Maybe try a 3 or 4 to start off with and see how your finances go. You get 1 home game a week that you get revenue for and you also get a few thousand each week through merchandise sales although obviously it's going to be fairly low to start with.

If you find yourself losing a lot of games while you're getting use to how things work then you might want to hire a PR manager because as the manual says, a decent PR manager can make even the Loserville Losers look like a good team that people will want to come and pay money to see (or something to that effect anyway heh).

Personally, i'd start off with a 3-5 trainer and start boosting your arena while you're still getting the 50k per week noobie bonus. Once you have a decent size arena and start filling it with the more games you play, i'd keep increasing your arena but also get a high level trainer so your players improve faster. That was a priority for me anyway. I haven't needed to improve my PR manager over the default level 1 and i had a bad run for 2 weeks with injuries where i needed a doctor but other than that, haven't needed a doctor too much either.

Others may have different opinions/strategies but that's what i've found is most important anyway.

A lot of new users complain about the economy saying that they will go bankrupt (but they never do). So maybe you should be more conservative in the begining, wait until your teams economy gets balanced (meaning until you start winning games and getting better attendance), and then you think in what to spend your money. Good Luck!

That seems like the best bet to me. If this system is anything like Hattrick, expanding your arena is a waste of money. Perhaps in this game it will be different, but until I start seeing sellouts on a regular basis, the one thing I don't want to do is expand an arena. Improving the coach, seems like a rational first move however. Perhaps I'll look into that.

Can someone tell me about this $50,000 newbie bonus? Is that true? If it is, how long can you expect to get free cash for? When do you stop getting that bonus?

This game isn't like HT, and I believe selling out your arena is going to be far more important here. That said, you still shouldn't upgrade it for a little while, since it takes some time to build up a fan base.

You will get 50k for the first 4 weeks that you have a new team, for a total of 200k. Use it wisely. ;)

Any suggestions on how to "wisely" use this money?

All I've done since joining is sack two players, and this evening I decided to get the level 5 coach on offer.

I didn't even realise us noobs got free cash until I read this and went and checked my economy page. That's pretty cool of them.

Guess I better read the rules. Again. *sigh*

I'm not sure the "newbie bonus" is in the rules. I jumped on the lvl5 coach this week, and last week I picked up the L3 doctor and L4 PR dude. I figure with the offseason I could use something to boost interest in place of winning any games.
