Just wondering what others think when trying to balance cup success vs. starting the RS strong, I got a pretty tough first round draw and I know that even should I win it I could get a worse one next week so should I just bow out in the first round to focus completely on league positioning?

I think it's just what you prefer going for. Playing in the cup doesn't mean you'll lose all your league games due to GS, but it will be tougher. I say if you don't feel like going all out for the cup, then don't even go for it at all. Unless you want to place your backups in just to see what would happen. That's just my opinion.

Also, I remember on my first season in IV I wanted to see how I'd do first. Maybe at the end if you find yourself high in the standings then maybe next season you won't be as worried to make that jump for the cup.

I think that is a winnable matchup for you with your best lineup. It looks like your home game this week is a cakewalk so you can save some of your best players for the Cup game if you want, and build up enthisiasm.

There are 336 teams in DIII and up, so until the round of 512(round 4?), the odds are in your favor to draw a team DIV and lower.
