Looks like my season will be much more competive this season, but unfortunately might still be lacking in forum interaction so I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in a general D.IV chat thread, talk about your league, the cup, or anything else you wanted to.

I'll get it started by copying my preseason rankings for my league.
IV.12 Pre-season

1.Xenia Chaos-Great balance, headed by a great SF who should be tough to stop.

2.Droids-One of the best backcourts around, supported by solid post play. Still a step below Xenia.

3.Charlotte Cappers-Another well balanced team, lacks the star power of Xenia Chaos.

4.Bullseyes Bruisers-Another well balanced team, will have to see a game or two first.

5.Pinoy Henyos-When talking about the best backcourt in the league this is the other team in the discussion, doesn't have the post support of Droids.

6.suns4life-Has some stars, but lacks depth.

7.Iowa Idiots-The inside game will definitely be their strength, but will it be enough to overcome other top teams?

8.ATL Bulls-Good depth, but lacks stars.

9.GR Venom-Good inside, but little depth or outside presence.

There appears to be a good balance between the two leagues and at this point my predections would have to be the Cappers/Droids vs. Chaos/Bruisers in the finals with 8 of these teams in the playoffs, the one missing probably being either suns4life or ATL Bulls.

It looks like you have a decent chance to promote two seasons in a row. GL to you.
I just promoted from D.V as well and am looking forward to a league that isn't half full of inactives.
Unfortunately I lack the talent and liquid capital to have a shot at the league title this season, so the current plan is to stay alive in the cup for as long as possible before selling off the more expensive players on my roster and shutting it down for the season.

I'd also like to add that it's amazing how many teams in the lower divisions don't manage enthusiasm. Looking at results from my current league's last season, it looks like only three teams ever used TIE.

Cool, do any of them have a tendency for adding big time players right before the playoffs? Kinda cruising through the RS and then adding a big name?

I'll be honest. Even if I did have a chance to promote to III next season, I don't know whether it would be a good Idea for my team. Would all the III teams crush and insta-relegate a team who hopped from d5 to d3 in two seasons? Is it possible to improve to D3 quality in 2 seasons of training? I am probably overthinking this. Good luck on your quest to get to DIII.

As of right now I'd say your team isn't quite ready, but if you continue training that crop of guards you've got and pick up another solid post player or SF in the next two seasons I'd think you'd do ok in D.III but I'm not really sure.

D.IV-12 Through 1 Game

Had some good first round games, with some moderate surprises.

Big 8
Bruisers 111- Bostn 82: Went as expected, solid performance from Bruisers.
Xenia 97- Twobit 74: A good defensive game from Xenia to start the season.
ATL 93- Firestorm 79: ATL won more handily than I expected and I'm now on the lookout for this team.
Pinoy 110- Suns 109: The biggest matchup of the first round of games Pinoy went on the road and got a solid win with their outside attack.

Great 8
Cappers 77- Wall Street 49: Not surprised by the outcome, was surprised by the score, Cappers defense looks impressive.
Droids 98- Gtown 72: I feel good about my first game, got a solid win on TIE, though it was at home.
ETBU 121- Scarlet 113: A matchup between two teams I wasn't sold on ETBU impressed me with a solid home win.
Iowa 108- Venom 101: An overtime thriller in the second biggest matchup of the first week, Iowa managed to pull out an impressive road victory.

Games to look forward to:
Droids@Iowa- Droids can't afford to coast in this one, we'll see the starters for the first time in this young season.
Cappers@ETBU- Can ETBU pull the shocker at home, or will Cappers talent prove too much?
Bruisers@Pinoy- Huge matchup, can bruisers go on the road vs another contender?
Suns@Xenia- Suns get unlucky start to season, close home loss and now a very tough road game, will they be able to bounce back?

Just promoted as well but I haven't really had the time (or enthusiasm) to make a huge comparison with other teams. The league average net income is -27,000 though and mine is 63,000 (haven't had a home game though so it might be different a bit). I think by that standard alone I should be fine. I was really able to capitalize on playoffs time and get some good centers, that, while they couldn't play in playoffs, at least I have them now and I got them for much cheaper.

My player salary is 71K while the league average is 88K. Normally, this would intimidate me, but judging by the team I just played who had one 76K player and the rest of his team was less than 10K players, I'm not too scared.

(edit: I'm not sure if the league averages updated tbh for this season, so my stats might apply to the league I'm in just for last season. either way, my arena is one of the largest in the league.)

On to my first game: (26253317)

It was an amazing game. With 22 seconds left on the clock, I'm up by 3, they take a 3 pointer and miss. I get really happy but they snatch the Offensive Rebound and take another, long, 3 pointer and somehow score it. Tie game: the shot clock is turned off. I make a layup with 0:00 on the clock. It was awesome.

This team has one beast of a PG and some OK side-kicks. I think I really took advantage of their horrible PD and I was debating at the time whether I should go RnG or Motion, but I think I made the right decision with motion. As can be seen, my PG wasn't able to successfully guard their beast of a PG, but I think in the end balance won out.

Am I the only one that thinks I should've won by more? I mean, sure, they had HCA, but even so, I feel like my team (purely going by the matchup ratings) really had their team under control. IDK.

Anyways, DIV is awesome in my opinion. Good competition and I think it really takes the pressure off of "needing to win the league" so I can really just concentrate on what's best for my team.

Yea i just promoted as well in DIV and my league is like dead. Just like last year. No one is computerized but still it is boring. I want a DIV league to be active. I just played my game and it was a shootout. In the first quarter it looked like i had won already until the end of the quarter. It was 31 to 14 and i was winning then he made it 31-25 . Then during the whole game it was either a tied game or i was up by three or something. Then i pulled away and won the game. Also the guy i beat is has been here since season 6 and he has been doing the same thing over and over. He will never get out of this league. Well GL to all of you and talk later.

In all honesty I'm a bit surprised you got the win on the road. You won the individual matchups but he did well on the team ratings except for PD, which is just wow a pitiful on PD really? It was defininetly a smart move to go with the motion and that made the difference.

Whats worse, the guy owns a 76k guy as his PG and he has bad OD. Really? That one guy is my whole team's salary. lol
