I know PFs have to defend outside at times - especially against some RnG, Motion teams with good outside shooting PFs. I recently got a really good PF (for my div) and was wondering about training him some more. My question is to managers who've played PFs with around 40-50k salary. What level of OD, Passing, JS, Driving and JR would you want for the perfect PF around that salary?

I would be shooting for something similar to this:

Jump Shot: sensational Jump Range: strong
Outside Def.: prominent Handling: prolific
Driving: strong Passing: respectable
Inside Shot: wonderous Inside Def.: sensational
Rebounding: sensational Shot Blocking: average

What do you guys think??

That's a really interesting response. :) You posed more questions and didn't even answer my original qs. Kidding. :)

Let me tell you a bit about what I'm trying to do with my team then. I want to be able to play any offense at all - depending on the strengths of the opposition. So balance is key for my team. I don't want this PF to be one dimensional. He's already got balanced attributes and I'm just wondering what outside skills he's going to need and how much of them - so I can train the areas that he's lacking in slightly. His inside skills are just fine by my reckoning - including blocking - so no need to bother there.

I've already got a good shooting/passing PG/SG. So my PF can pass it outside if double teamed or whatever. I also have an SF who's got good driving/passing ability - so he can provide to my PF as well. And my center is also a good passer/handler. Basically I want the PF to be able to create his own shot, receive assists and hit from 15-20 feet as well as score inside on the offensive end - and of course pass the ball out to my outside shooters when double teamed.

As for the defence, I like all players to be able to defend - both inside and outside - and I don't want to rely on OD from my guards alone or ID from the big men alone. Which is why I especially want to know how much OD my PF should have. I want him to be a key player for the next few seasons - in Div II also when I get promoted.

So, given all that, what would you recommend for outside skills with that kind of salary? Let me also mention that if given the choice against a balanced defensive team I'll probably play Look Inside or Princeton.

Prominent OD?! My guy'll never make it that far. And the jumpshot and handling are out of my league too. You're talking about a much more expensive PF - around 67000 according to the salary calculator.

I didn't get what you meant by 10 5 8 - 5 9 5.

His OD needs a lot of work - will he bring down the team's OD too much if its around 5-6 levels below the guards? I'll get the driving to 8 and JS to 8-9 by the end of the season but what about passing and JR? He's currently got average passing and range.
