How is it we're in the fourth round of the Tourney and we still have DVI computer controlled teams in it? A lot of active managers could still be in it if not for a needless sixth division full of computer teams.

I'm having a bit of a hard time following your logic?

Each round, your opponent is determined randomly. Having an extra few thousand bot teams heavily increases your random chance of drawing a free win...

Additionally, with all of the extra teams, the tournament started with twice as many teams in it this season. At this stage, there are twice as many teams still alive in the tourney as there would be without the DVI teams (1024 instead of 512). To add to that, there are exactly 44 DVI teams out of the remaining 1024 teams, leaving 980 slots for DV+ teams.

That means that, at this time, there are 478 more slots available for DV-DI teams than there were last year at the same point.

So your statement...

My point is, due to the randomness of pairing, as you pointed out, you have some early round match-ups where an inactive team faced bots maybe two or three weeks in a row and passively advanced, whereas an actively managed team drew the short stick, had an impossible challenge in the first round, and is sitting it out the rest of the way. Had the bots not been introduced in the tournament this year, it would be easier to weed out the inactive teams.

I agree we have too many teams, but if an active team is losing to a d6 bot, uhh, I think they need only blame themselves.

Yes, he should. But what about the guy that hasn't logged in 3 weeks and has advanced against bots. Meanwhile, the active manager in his conf. has had 3 straight top 1k rank teams to face. Should manager #1 really be given an easy trip to the fourth round when there's such an imbalance in the match-ups? It's a competition. It should be competitive for everyone.

And yet, there will still be more active teams advancing more weeks into the tournament than in any previous year, and each teams chances of drawing a top level (DI-DIII) team is less for each round than before. So, if your goal is to play as many cup games as possible, your chances of doing that have been increased this season.

I certainly don't understand the need for a DVI at this point and think it is a waste, but there is absolutely no support for the sentiment that the extra teams have caused good teams to have a lesser chance to advance in the tournament.

I agree that there are too many teams. It is unfair if a D3 team has to face a D2 team. While a D5 or D6 bot can make it all the way to the fourth round by just getting lucky.

In that case you should be complaining about the randomness of the matchups, not the number of teams. Just read BFiddy explanation, because he's right.

Agreed. The numbers of teams is fine. It's actually better for active managers because it makes it less likely to face another good team in early rounds. The issue people seem to be complaining about is the randomly generated match ups, which I agree kind of stinks all around.
