Um... tank the league, concentrate on the cup and the draft? ;)

This is a really interesting question, and I doubt I'm in any position to give a good answer (as I'm in my 3rd season in III.10), but I'll throw some ideas out there.

Your problems:
1. Not enough good Guards on the TL
2. Difficulty of training C/PF
3. League competition

1. This is definitely more of a problem for you than for most C/PF trainers, as your standards as to what constitutes a "good" guard are much higher than the rest of us. A well-rounded guy with respectable/strong skills just won't cut it. Perhaps this is an incentive to guard trainers to put some of their top trainees on the TL.

2. The advantage to training C/PF as your two positions is that you have less skills to train than those who are training PG/SG or Wingmen. The disadvantage is that your team strength is pretty predictable, and there seem to be more highly-trained centers on the TL than guards, allowing your opponents a better chance to keep pace with you. This doesn't change the fact that you have the NBBA's leading scorer, so you must be doing something right.

3. I can't help here, really. I will say, however, that the season is only 5 games old, and there are 17 more league games before it's all said and done. Manage your enthusiasm well and get wins where you can. As long as you're still in the cup, that can be your place for positive things to happen (and will help your enthusiasm for the league).

I'd advise against training only one spot, as the speed of training one player vs. two players doesn't really justify training a maximum of 3 players vs. training a maximum of 6 players.

I would also not recommend changing your training until your current trainees are "done", which may not be for quite a long time at your level.

When you buy the "latest and greatest players" you may want to keep the ones who are almost as good for backups, injuries, etc. When I upgrade, I sell off my former 2nd- and 3rd-string guys.

Hope that helps (and that you also get some advice from some teams playing at your level of competition). =)

I think the revenues are so much higher in the NBBA that it will never make sense to drop a league if you can help it.

This makes me want to go on a rant about the state of the BB economy, so I will shut up.

I think someone stumbled on how BB deals with the HT tanking problem, right?

I think you have answered your own question regarding training...

either stump up and pay the money... or alter your training to ensure you train guards and perhaps 6 of them!

with the trend leaning towards the big men you have to feel confident you can buy when needed and I think guards once trained will become more attached to the teams that trained them (nothing to base that on but instinct!)

most of you guys in the NBBA have been around a while... the only way i can see the teams in the lower half bridging the gap is via training... meaning look for holes in the market and fill them..... if you keep training PF/C like the others you will only be keeping pace at best.... as your attendences and ability to build up your cash is going to be slower than the teams in positions 1-4.
