For the start of next year i was thinking about traing inside shot for my gaurds, however is thst a good idea? Should i wait till their primary stats are built up before doing it or does it make since to make them all around players? The reason i was thinking of doing this is because my gaurds are missing several layups despite having superior driving skills.

In is always good to have all-round players, but inside shot looks pretty useless to a guard, some say that inside defense has some effect. I prefer training their outside skills first, mainly pressure and 1on1 :) just my view on this..

Yea i was thinking about getting their inside shots up to about mediocre as i have 1 SG who has mediocre inside shot and he makes almost all layups, but my other guards with worse than mediocre cant make any layups it seems. I feel even if they could just make their layups my team would be even better then it is now and would help when i promote at the end of the year probably.

It also depends on the height of your SG, I wouldn't train anything on guards (well short guys more specifically) that big men should do until long long after your train them in guard related skills at the least. Regardless if you want to win I can guarantee outside defense would be wiser choice to train assuming its not a 7 feet tall guard of course

for sure guard skills, are more important then big men skills nearly all the time. But when you plan to train then, i think it is easier to start with them because at the beginning you don't lost that much quality if you play them out of position, because even when you train it in scrimmages anyway you have to rest them in league so that there game shape didn't drop.

I'm planning to do the same next season. My guards have high driving skill, but miss a lot of layups.

I will train Jump shot for SF/PF whenever possible. That way, my guards can get the training in JS and IS.

High inside shot is pretty awesome for a guard if he has a high driving and handling skill to support it. I have a guard on my team with a 10 in IS and you can see the difference in the matchviewer, many of his 2 point-attempts are high %age layups, dunks and ocassionaly even putbacks (offensive rebound + dunk).

I would expect such a player to draw many fouls, but unfortunately that is absolutely not the case.
