What is the average players per team? I just realised that I had about 15 players and that is way too much. So I am cutting down to save money, but I want to know how far I should go? I have a scrimage against a Chinese team who seems to be doing really well with his arena (means he made money) and is 3rd in his country (im gonna get whooped lol). Anyways, he only has 8 players on his team! Is that something I should go for? Because then I started thinking about injuries and it kinda worried me. I guess if I don't have a back up in a certain position, lets say PG, and my starting PG gets hurt, I could just pick up some random off the TL to fill in while he is injured.

Sorry if my question is a bit rambling, I'm up pretty late over here lol. Any input on this would be great! Thanks in advance!

I think you need 11 or 12 players to manage GS properly.

I have 10 main players and 3 scrubs for scrimmage and players' minutes management. Those 3 scrubs aren't just random players, they're all from my country in a hope it gives a little boost in my merchandise :P

11 or 12 should be enough, however sometimes minutes aren't divided as you'd hoped during your first 2 games, so you may be forced to buy 1 or 2 additional players to keep your GS up (especially if you're 1 pos training). This is no big deal, you can get some for 1000$, and after the game you can fire them. This way, the part from your fan survey , "I am familiar with the star players", won't take a hit.

All comments are true thus far, 12-13 players is about right.

But the extra 2-3 players that you have, could be scurbbers, $1000 kerb kickers, or they could potentially be trainee's. Although, you would only be able to 2 position train them, which isnt as good as 1 position training, but it is still a posibility if you arent 1-position training any of the top 10 players.

In other words, it can be a mix of scrubs/trainee's, or just players that you buy/sell week by week.

Thanks for the reply guys :) I don't mean to argue but given my knowledge of the game (which isnt alot at all) If I was single position training, wouldnt that mean I could have less guys on my roster? And Coach Regan, you said one position training is better? Can you explain? Because I thought the more I could train at once the better, since I will be selling them off once they are worth it. If I am only training say my PG's, then I only need one back up at PG, and the rest of the players could go, barring any injuries. This makes sense to me, but I might be missing vital pieces of info lol.

Doesn't matter if your 1 or 2 position training you still need the same amount of players so u can manage GS. As for 1 or 2 position training each of them has their advantages and disadvantages. With 2 position training you may not create a superstar but u will have more assets(players) you can sell to buy that superstar. Overall 2 position training gives more actual training it is just spread across more players. Downside is that buying a superstar leaves u open to price wars and finding the exact player with the skills u want may be hard. Also your own players may not sell for the price u want. With 1 position training you can create your own superstars and train them in the exact skills u require. Downside is that it gives u less overall training then 2 position training.

yer i guess when i say better, i mean to say, you get better training value for one individual player.

There are quite a few good threads and info on this topic, check out the help section. But in summary, say you train Inside shot at one position (centre) compared to two positions (C and PF), you get more sub-level pops using one position training, compared to two position (but with two position, you can train twice as many guys).

So using one position training, your centre might have Respectable Inside shooting, which is equal to a 7.0 After one position training, he will be (dependant upon training minutes and height) a 7.8 level of inside shooting (this is what i mean by sub-levels.)

Using two position training, that same player, with same training minutes, may only go to say, 7.4 level of inside shooting.

In other words, you would have to train maybe 3-4 weeks of inside shot, on that one player using two position training, to get one 'pop'.... compared to one position training, which could pop 1-2 weeks.

Read this thread for more info on this
Training Basics (144856.30)

and do some searching on sub-levels of the skill set.
