Hello England
I'm Tortuga, manager of Welsh team Ball Bouncers
(175989) (currently in the process of a major rebuilding). I've thought about running for an England job for a few seasons now and always wondered how such a not-so-foreign managers application might be received, so this season I thought why not put it out there and see what happens if I go for the job of managing my homeland.
I've previously managed Wales at both U21 and NT level before and while success was obviously limited by the tiny pool of managers and players we did manage to get some good results against larger nations and make sure a lot of young talent was kept in the game. At one point the national team was ranked in the top 70 in the world.
Here are some of the goals I found to be key to improving a national team. I feel these will be equally important for a nation of any size.
1. Increasing the pool of decent players available by making sure high potential young players at inactive teams are brought onto one of the NT rosters so that they are released.
2. Trying to get teams to continue training those players aged 24-26 that they might be thinking about not training any further to get the most out of their potential.
3. Keeping in touch with inexperienced managers when they buy our best players to make sure they know what to do with them. Good players can lose weeks or seasons of training or drop off the radar altogether very quickly this way.
4. Having a clear plan of enthusiasm management for all the qualification games before qualification starts and closely watching the enthusiasm management of other nations during the qualifiers.
I'd also like to do a bit more stuff on the forums, match reports, prediction constests ect to increase interest.
Feel free to ask me anything I havn't covered or message me, even if it's just to shoot me down and crush my dreams, I won't be offended!
Cheers.
