So.. You want to train one player, but not the others that get minutes at the same position?

Well theoretically you could- it's not a good idea IMO because, lets face it, training can't HURT for anybody. If you are sure you want to do that, put the player as starter, backup, and Reserve for the position during the game, and have only 5 players in each game, putting the rest on reserve (right column on the set lineup page), and you should be able to avoid giving any other players training at that position.

I don't see why you'd want to do this though.

Exactly what I'm saying; if he really wants to, he can put the same guy as starter/backup/reserve in all 3 games, put in 5 players only each game, and then, with like 144 minutes in that week, he'll get his 48+ for that position. It's a terrible idea for both gameshape, and for the other players, but if he wants to, I can't stop him.

oh ok. i was just wondering because i thought it would go faster if i trained only the key players on my team as opposed to everyone at a certain position. i just got confused when i saw people talking about single or double training and single training being faster.

My understanding is that there is not a huge difference in advancement between single player training, i.e. outside shot for just shooting guards and 2 player training, i.e. outside shot for guards. The more important factor is the skill level of the trainer. Players will train much faster with a level 4 trainer than a level 1 trainer. There are a ton of posts out there analyzing training speed. My advice to a new manager would be that you will see the most improvement in your team by using 2 player training as opposed to one player training. Remember, younger players train faster than older players, and height makes a difference also. Tall players train faster for big man skills. Short players train faster for outside skills.

Well, it depends on your definition of huge. I would say that a player trained with 2 position training will improve about 60-70% as fast as one trained with single position. That's better than half, so you're getting more overall training for your team, but after a season, you would be able to see a difference between two players, one of which was single position trained, and one of which was double position trained.

Since you're new, I'll just clarify that as long as you get 48 minutes in a week, getting any more WILL NOT help your player get more training. Put another way, 49 minutes will get your player the same amount of traning as 144 minutes. Therefore, once you get your main player his training, just move on to the next young player because training is probably the most efficient means of improving your team.
