there was an action last season, where they emailed all players who had play BB in the past to join again, which a lot of them did but many of them left again.

there are a bunch of things they could do to promote the game

advertise on similar games like soccer, american football, racing car etc manager games to get people in

have little "give aways" from time to time, cosmetic things only like everyone gets supporter for a week at christmas if they paid or not

competitions wih things like the oft discussed ability to rename a player or name your draft pick (moderated by a gm)

introduce new sexy features like the much discussed uniform, sponsors, cheerleaders, or other staff

the changes we have seen recently are all good tweaks to the basic game engine and econimic model and those that already love the game will appreciate them, but they don't do much for those with borderline interest

I dont think the missing promotion is the main problem. During the last season (and maybe that one before too), a lot of new teams registered in Austria through a promo (pretty easy to spot, as they all had an affix to their team name "Mannschaft" (=team) - that would sometimes look pretty weird, like Vienna Ballers Mannschaft, or Ankaragücü Ali B-Ballers Mannschaft).

Much to my dismay most of them went bot again, in my opinion the reason for that was primarily becaus they were torn apart in every single game and probably lost by an average margin of 30-40 points.

It would be interesting to see what nations are really shrinking.

That is like putting cheese sauce on broccoli, it's still broccoli. Make the game better, focus on basketball more and economy less. Yes economy is a big deal in management, but this game is turning into "The Basketball Stock Market Game". Call me crazy, but I want more basketball in my basketball game.
