Hi guys,

I need some advice. I just promoted to division III and well, I'm just trying to stay put. So I decided to throw one game a week (road games or ones against too strong competition) and concentrate on the more winnable games. Of course I TIE those games in order to save enthusiasm. I put my best players as backups (with SFDC) in those games and as starters in the games I try to win, but I don't seem to get them the desired 60 minutes this way. I read something about players staying on the floor for longer stints if I TIE (and that makes sense, of course), but I ended up with too less minutes this way, so I had to play some of them in the cup too and that messed up my training and backup/reserve playing time plan pretty badly. When I don't play SFDC it doesn't really work out either.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Yeah if you want to run a really small roster of old players. Otherwise, I can't see why you want to be doing that sort of training

It hard to give you a straight answer because it really depends on your opponent, the stamina of your players and whether you have quality backups so you will have to judge on a week by week basis as there is no perfect formula.

Opponent: If your squad is unable to beat your opponent convincingly, your coach will tend to give your starters more minutes to try and win the game or at least to stay ahead. If you manage to blowout your opponent, your starters will play less minutes and get benched in the 4th quarter

Stamina: The higher the stamina of your starters, the longer they tend to stay on the court without needing to be replaced.

Quality of backups: The better the backups, the less minutes your starters will play as the coach can afford to give the starters more rest without a huge drop in skill
