something seriously needs to be done to help with fed sorting.

I don't disagree with this.

I think they should just delete all the 1 person feds that no one ever joined after 3 monhts or so. 99% of the feds are just one dude.

One dude. Who paid for supporter.

I get your point though. By my count, there are 2,376 federations, and 1,983 of them have only one member (around 84%). If there was a mechanism in place that required there to be at least two members in a federation to keep it from being disbanded (say, 14 days to pick up that second member or wipe the fed from the books), a lot of the fat could be cut away.

While wading through, I also noticed that a lot of federations are duplicates, with one user creating 3 or 4 federations with the same name on the same day (and that poor soul being the only member). If a user tries to create a federation whose name already exists, it should take him to that federation as a suggestion so that (i) he doesn't create the same fed multiple times, and (ii) multiple feds for the same thing (i.e., Celtics fans) don't need to exist.

All that, and I forgot the topic of this thread.

Edit: Ah, yes, fed sorting! If we were to disband the lonely feds, leaving all but ~400 alive and kicking, federation sorting wouldn't be much of an issue.
