Is my training okay so far?

What I want them to be:
Vladimar = SG (1st Main Trainee)
Lukrecijus = PG (2nd Main Trainee)
Mahir = PG (Rubbish Minutes)

I'm wondering how much Passing a SG needs. I was thinking of training Vladimar to average / respectable passing. Then train OD the rest of the season... untill all 3 trainees are sensational OD.

Then next season pick up two more trainee and train JS / 1 v 1

I agree with Manon..passing can be trained when they are older so get the other abilities like OD and shooting range out of the way because they are really effected by age.

I'm not singling you out here, but I keep hearing this, and it's not true. Age affects all training equally, so it doesn't matter one bit in what order you train skills (with the small exception of the "elastic effect"). Over the course of a player's career, he will reach the same skill-set at about the same time no matter what you train first or last.

Whether or not I'm in a higher division is irrelevant (ask anyone in my series, I'm famously retarded when it comes right down to it).

I think the reason most people say to train the skills that take longer (OD, ID, JR) first is because training a 25-26yo in these skills becomes thanklessly slow when compared to the faster skills (JS, DR, HN, RB). In actuality, the slowdown is the same on all training, but e.g. 5 weeks for a pop in JS feels better than 8 weeks for a pop in OD (these numbers are random just to make a point).

There is one real effect that is the psycological effect on the coach. When training older players in something that takes a long time to train like OD or JR the coach can get frustrated and make bad decisions. If instead you are training 1on1 when they are older you will still see a pop every week or two and be encouraged to keep on training.

That's kinda what I meant when I said "thanklessly slow."

I hear what youre saying on this one. Ive not been playing long enough to be training 24 - 25 year olds so I cant really comment on that.

The thing is my bro (kensei) and me were discussing how much passing a SG should have. For me I like my guards with at least strong + passing. SG included. he was quite ok with respectable passing. Hence The post as we were wondering what everyone else thought.

His main scorings prob from his bigs. Assuming he takes my advice and spends on a decent PF/C. So all the more passings important as his trainees are his starters?

Opinions?
