Well the team and I are up here in Canada resting up for what is sure to be an epic battle with the Bahamas. Rambo is here too, burning the midnight oil watching film of Bahamas in order to prepare. SpF was arrested this afternoon by the Mounties for public drunkenness, so don't expect any preview of this game.

Gameplan, discussion, and a poll on the offsite forum: (http://s3.zetaboards.com/BuzzerBeater_USA_NT/topic/746063...)

NT PostGame: Bahamas

Early Monday morning, I found myself in a strange place... cold, dark, and gloomy, but then realized.. I was in JAIL. After posting bail and making some.. negotiations... with Canadian Mounties I was set free and ready to report live from the Windsor Family Credit Union Center. Team USA was matched up against the Bahamas NT and the looks on the American players screamed... Wow, our coach is even taking this game seriously? Regardless Coach Jfarb001 was very determined and wanted to keep focus and pace with the other teams in the Americas tournament.

Before the game had started reports came in star USA player Joe Bronson was having personal issues (a fallout with an old Canadian friend) so the NT called up Richard Ugona for his first NT game of the season. Bahamas started off hot with a 3 pointer in their first possession by John Collins. Bahamas had the lead and the entire arena on the tips of their feet, could they make the game interesting? Actually after their 3-0 lead the United States with solid defense second chances and taking the right shots outscored Bahamas 31-8 in the first quarter. The look inside focus by the United States continues to impress as every player seemed to be scoring at will. +/- stats were also eye-popping with most over 40 and the high being an astounding +82 by Jairo Alejandro Renteria. Defense continued through the next 3 quarters after the US let Bahamas score 9, 3, 7 respectively. After getting a defensive stop the offense did their part with 6 players in double digits and all who played atleast scored 4 points. Shooting 3-44 from the 3 point line was ultimately the demise for Bahamas and after missed shots their struggles in trying to create a full court press were no match for the US guards to handle easily.

A lot of big games by the United States players but the 2 chosen players in the press conference this week was player of the game Jairo Alejandro Renteria and Center Gavin Wood.

Jairo Alejandro Renteria:
Me: " Hey Jairo! amazing game out there, you just continue to tear it up"
Jairo: " Gra.. Tank you. I play well, I put ball in hole"
Me: " I see your english has greatly improved! but you're right you led all scores with 25 points and grabbed 18 boards, and dished 8 dimes!"
Jairo: " I did my part.. how you say.. I ball it up on the softwood?"
Me: "... Hardwood but yes you did you completely dominated the paint"
Jairo: " Yesh.. I am an artist (laughs)
Me: " Well congratulations on the win and the BIG game Jairo, good luck next week and .. keep practicing the English it's really starting to come along!
Jairo: "Gooshbye"

Gavin Wood:
Me: "Well Gavin, no doubt one of your best games in NT play just an amazing night with 20 points and 19 rebounds almost a 20-20, but for how you played I don't think nobody will notice the 1 eluding rebound."
Gavin: "Yeah, that was just a great game, best of luck to Bahamas but that really helped us in a tune up for the weeks to come."
Me: Can we expect more games like this from you in the future?"
Gavin: " Well given the chance I can do some dangerous things.. a lot of us in the rotation can, by the way it was nice to see Ugona out there tonight, but overall this was a great team win!"

The entire team and community was smiling and in a cheerful mood and all the players were taking the night to celebrate and relax. I managed to listen in on a joke from Velasco to Lundy when Velasco asked Lundy what he was eating under there in which Lundy responded with Under Where?.. Enough Said.

Coach Jfarb001:
"In my pregame speech I told the team that we beat Bahamas by 99 a couple of seasons ago and that I expect to win by at least 100. The team ignored me. So then I told them that it would make me look good if we won by 100. Again, no one cared. Finally I told em that if we win by 100, I'll send Bronson all the way to Ontario to get every body In and Out burgers.... HEY WOOD!! Ok so a ginger walks in to a bar and...HEY...WHERE ARE YOU GOING, CMON MAN PLEASE?"

Me: "Looks like the team will be dining out tonight with some nice In and Out Burgers paid by Joe Bronson"
Velasco: "Except for Lundy he'll be eating underwear!"
Me: " Alright Velasco.. I think we get it.. har har har"

Well as the team parties the night away they have the next few days to get ready for next weeks challenge against Peru which will no doubt be the United States first real test! Check out the NT forums to get the inside scoop and continue to play the Weekly question games, well It's been real but time to see if I can get arrested again, SpF out.
