I have a great, well-rounded trainee with one BIG flaw. He has atrocious jumpshot. Is there any position I can train him at? Or, should I just sell him?

Well a well rounded player with atrocious JS is pretty much useless. Ofc there are alternatives, such as mono-skilled big man but even then, atrocious JS could hurt a lot. I'd say just sell him. I don't think he'll be sold for a good price though...

In my experience JS pops pretty quickly, especially when other skills are far ahead.. so it's not a deal breaker..

Deal breakers are Atrocious JR, ID and OD...

But I'm pretty sure if he's to keep training him, he needs more than a season of JS training.

Could that training be at age 22 or so?

I had a draftee once who started with pitful or awful JS, I had it up to a decent level by the end of the season training JS half heatedly and focusing more on OD. His JS is now Tremendous at 21, although I no longer own him.

The JS training could take place when he's 22, but that means until then, he'll be playing with atrocious JS, which is not good. And when he's 22, the training will slow down, so ideally if you're willing to keep and train him, you might want to start training JS asap until it is around average/respectable, then train other skills, and train JS later on.

Ah, fair enough. The same thing can be done with this player, but the thing is he's already 19 and it's almost the middle of season 15. And training from the very beginning can be really boring too.

Even if you just get JS up to inept that is still a valuable PF/C in UK D.IV or D.III if you can get his inside skills to sensational. I guess the problem is his height. Perfect height for a SF but with that JS you will have to make him a PF/C, but his height will slow down the inside skills training a bit.

I would stick with it. Half a season of JS training would probably get you to inept or maybe even mediocre with the elastic effect helping you along. Then when he is 22 you can go back to it and get it up to strong or proficient if you want.

Usually I'd say it's not worth it, but given that this guy is only halfway through his 19 year old season and he has such good big guy skills, esp the 10 in ID, makes him worth holding on to. Additionally, he already has the jump range so I'd say give him a season's worth of JS to get him up to respectable or so.

I'm sure you can find some other players on your team who need JS training and you can always mix some other types of training in there as well.
